Berry Gordy's The Last Dragon

Rides that line of pure 80s cheese and fun parody like a champ.

The Pirates of the Caribbean movies (at least the first few).

I remember going to see the first one with a group of friends in college and thinking "why are we going to see a kids movie?" (My only knowledge of the movie being the ride at Disney World). I was not particularly excited to go, but went anyway. 2 hours later I walked out of the theatre thinking, "Damn, that was a fun movie!"

Twister. You could listen to it as an audio book and it would still be entertaining.

Jo winced as the wind whipped along the embankment. As her vision came to focus she spotted a black and white object from the corner of her eye.

"We got cows" Dr. Reeves blasted into her cellular telephone.

" It was a dairy cow." Jo thought. "At least 1,200 lbs. by the looks of it and taking flight as if headed to Oz with a one way Southwest ticket and no bags checked."

amazing.

"Another cow," observed Jo as she noted a similar bovine sailing past the windshield, seemingly as weightless as a feather on the breeze.

"Actually, I think it was the same one," remarked Bill grimly, as if it made a nickel's worth of fricking difference.

This guy is a fricking moron, now I remember why I divorced him, thought Jo to herself as she silently said a prayer of thanks.

The Guardian

The coast guard swimming movie with Kevin Costner and Ashton Kutcher. See how terrible that sounds....but it was actually decent

The original is worth checking out too if you’ve never seen it. Obviously not a big budget Hollywood production, but it’s fantastic for what it is.

Watched it about a year ago for the first time and really enjoyed it. The movie is not a cinematic masterpiece, but neither is the remake and I like that one too.

Ford v. Ferrari is a good movie but I don't really think it fits the topic.

A big budget movie about auto racing (drama+action) that stars two of the biggest superstar actors of their generation is not a movie that has "no right" to be good. It might not be your individual cup of tea, but that's a formula everyone expects to make money and please wide audiences.

The Italian Job for me - it is just a fun damn movie start to finish.

normally I'm not keen on remakes of films, but this one did it for me, as did Gone in 60 Seconds. Ford vs Ferrari was just so good as well.

Goon. Starts out as raunchy sports comedy but ends up as something like inspiring and has some awesome characters.
