I find it cool.
Should I also list random movies, as if you asked me what movies were filmed here?
I'm not going to do that, I'll just say I think it is cool.
I mean, it happens in almost every movie and tv series.

Perhaps my thread title was misleading?
To me it is cool when they travel to a place I am familiar with, but I have found at times that when used generically it kind of destroys the realism for me.
At least I don't live in New York.

21 Jump Street is a great comedy while were on the subject
After watching GI Joe I thought Channing Tatum was going to absolutely ruin this movie. I thought he did a really good job.

Was great in it.
Comedy may be more suited for him

And wasn't Battlefield Los Angeles filmed in Shreveport?
yea. the scene on the bridge was right by downtown. they closed the interstate and had a massive green screen and burning cars and the helicopter. it was pretty cool to see

No. That movie was set in Louisiana.

Hank Grotowski (Billy Bob Thornton), a widower, and his son, Sonny (Heath Ledger), are corrections officers in the Jackson, Georgia state prison. They reside nearby with Hank's ailing father, Buck (Peter Boyle), an unwavering racist whose wife committed suicide. Hank's hateful attitude toward others, strongly influenced by his father, extends to his son, and members of the neighboring community.
don't worry I thought the same and went back and edited.

Mr Brooks was filmed entirely in Shreveport and it was supposed to be in Portland. His house is a house on Cross Lake and his office is the convention center. I've sat in on meetings in the room that was his office.
If you watch the movie again (and it is great so why not), at the end, when they go into the cemetary by the Municipal, there is a van in front placed there to block Elvis' statue.

The Waterboy
The entire movie is based in Louisiana, but about 80% of it was shot in Florida.

'Miller's Crossing' - 1989 with Gabriel Byrne,
John Turturro, and Albert Finney.
I was actually one of Byrne's stand-ins.
Pretty cool experience and a great film...

Battleship
For the purposes of this thread, I think he only meant outdoor shots.
Battleship's LA portion was solely studio filming, which could take place anywhere.
Another good one is "The Mist"
You can see Zapps potato chips on the store shelves, and if you look carefully the emergency vehicles at the start are labelled Caddo parish.
