The track scene in 21 Jump Street was shot at West Jeff on the West Bank. I played football at WJ so I immediately recognized the scenery

It was pretty cool. I was going to Westwego from Gretna to get my license after I graduated in May '11 and saw film crews on the WJ campus from the West Bank Expressway. Didn't know what was going on though.

The Campaign with Will Ferrell. Opening scene was shot at Chalmette High, and most of the rest was shot in Hammond.

Parts of Battle for LA was also shot in downtown Baton Rouge near my office. Most of it shows houses in Spanish Town, but you can see the capitol building in the background.

The end scene for 21 Jump Street and the scene in Green Lantern where Parallax was attacking the city were both filmed at Gravier and O'Keefe in NOLA.

The scene where Green Lantern gets the ring fro mthe dying Lantern was filmed on the shore of Lake Pontchartrain at the Madisonville lighthouse. In fact the chase scene right after was filmed running back up that road with the narrow bridge. Many of the other scenes were filmed at the N.O. lakefront airport.

the movie with the rock taking the place of his son to run drugs in an 18 wheeler in hopes of getting his son out of jail was shot in shreveport.

I could tell ever place in the movie and it didn't take away from it, the idiots in the movie saying I've been there or that looks familiar was what took away from the movie.

I haven't seen olympus has fallen but they say several prominent landmarks in shreveport/bossier is visible if you look close enough.

Yeah, my pop is a driver with the Teamsters and there's so many movies it's crazy. He says they're doing some Jurrasic Park there. They did some of that crap Twilight there too. Haven't seen Broken City but he worked on that as well as Contraband, Abe Lincoln:Vampire Hunter, The Mechanic, and some cheesy horror films he said as well.

Not sure why people would want to make a cultural iconic city generic though...

Battleship's LA portion was solely studio filming, which could take place anywhere.

not entirely ... they shot a big SFX scene at the Shaw Center.

It's always a challenge to shoot a city for another, but that's part of movie magic and you have to get creative. The portion of people that notice it are from the area. Most of the movie going public won't and shouldn't notice.

Hell, Oblivion was shot mostly in BR as well as a good bit of Battle Los Angeles. A full replica of the Oregon Twilight house was built at Celtic.

I'm in Georgia now and we are playing Atlanta for Los Angeles

don't worry I thought the same and went back and edited.

I clearly remember the prison uniforms they wore having the state of La patch on the side. Are you sure that source is correct?

Pitch Perfect was supposed to be in Georgia, but shot on LSU campus.

Where was the opening shot from (when they first got on campus)? They drive through an archway (not at LSU, but sort of reminded me what I remember of Princeton's campus from years ago?), then it switches to LSU's campus...
