for a few years there were rumors of a big screen version of Have Gun Will Travel

Titanic. I thought it was going to be a ripping action-adventure, not a chick flick.

Godzilla. Saw a small snipet of a trailer where a pier is getting destroyed and a eye pops up and you knew it was Godzilla. Waited months for it to open, probably the only movie I ever saw on opening night and disappointed I was! Hated it!

As a child, I was extremely disappointed in Masters of the Universe.

Trailers made it look great visually, had a good story idea. But the execution was awful.

The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe

I loved this book growing up and couldn't wait to see a live action movie of it. It's not that I dislike the Disney film, I even watch it most every time I see it on TV, but it just wasn't what I hoped for.

Gangster Squad

Probably not the MOST disappointed I've been, but this one is the freshest and I haven't bitched to anyone but Mrs. Ugly yet. The trailers made it look awesome, but goddamn that movie sucked so bad. The only upside was Sean Penn was great as Mickey Cohen. The rest was just turrible. Aweful acting. Aweful dialogue. Aweful. Aweful. Aweful.

I was very disappointed in All the King's Men when i saw it in the theatre. Not sure how they managed to screw it up so badly. BR media was pumping up that flick to no end before it came out. Didnt hear much noise post-release.

Phantom Menace by a long shot.

I'd love to be clever and original in this thread, but this is the correct answer for many. Even as RotJ was being released, we were already hearing about "Clone Wars" prequels. After waiting for all those years, hearing the gay Japanese lizard guys and seeing Jar Jar burst onto the scene was one of the lamest moments of my movie-going life.

Prometheus gets an honorable mention.
