I haven't seen it. I was responding to your other post saying that "it's a Mad Max movie. What kind of story are people looking for??"

No review is going to keep me from seeing it.

It's never satisfying when you build it up so big in your mind...and then they all make friends in the end

I know this much. A lot of people in the theatre and hardly any reaction during or at the end of the movie. It was just a meh reaction. I think everyone was on the same age, just expecting more.

n a July 2014 interview at Comic-Con, Miller said he designed the film in storyboard form before writing the screenplay, working with five storyboard artists. It came out as about 3,500 panels, almost the same number of shots as in the finished film. He wanted the film to be almost a continuous chase, with relatively little dialogue, and to have the visuals come first.

It's just different strokes for different folks. If you are into a great screenplay and a heavy dialogue person, Fury Road probably not the flick for you.

However, it is easily one of the best action films I have ever seen. It may not deserve a 99, but it definitely deserves a 90. Really, really good film.

Ah, well I will say besides the 1st one, I'd say it develops the characters just as much, if not more than the others.

As far as the OP'scomment about screenplay not being good, I don't really understand what more he wanted. That was more of what my comment was referencing. Mad Max movies never have a deep script. Story is generally pretty simple. That's why I was asking for more specifics.

Is this a prequel, sequel or a reboot? I've actually never seen any mad max movies that's why I ask

It is somewhere in between a sequel and a reboot.

It takes place well after the third one. Some of the characters from the early ones carry over, but obviously some different actors and what not, but overall it is still within the same universe and storyline.

If you haven't seen any of the originals, especially the first or second, there will be some flashbacks that you won't really get.

Agreed.

I kind of like believing that Immortal Joe is basically the reincarnation of Toecutter, event if it isn't true. I mean, with what happens to him in the first one, I could see that whole breathing apparatus being needed lol.

I'm going at 7:15 tonight. Only option was 3D Imax unfortunately.

I just want to see badass action. If I wanted to see heavy conversation I'd stay at home with the gf for the night.

That is not unfortunate. This move should be awesome in 3D Imax.

It's definitely a spectacle. A thrill ride, to be sure. Booming score, cool effects. But the chase scenes? IMO, I've seen it all before - this movie just had more than I'm used to seeing in a single movie.

Can't help but wonder how much the feminist angle weighed on critics' valuations. I'd say it's a good movie, and original enough. But nothing exceptional. 7/10. Definitely worth seeing once.

i guess you're a Shakespeare In Love > Saving Private Ryan kind of guy huh?

Not to derail, but that's really a shitty analogy. Because SPR had plenty of character development. Plenty of everything, really. It should've won - everyone knows that.

That's starting to bug me. Can you expand on that without posting spoilers? Preachy elements tend to ruin movies for me.

It really isn't that much. There is definitely a feeling of blaming men for what happened to the world, but at the same time, it can very easily be taken as it was the depraved that ruined it for the "clean" people.
