That movie BLEW chunks!

It's just Sandra Bullock twisting around in space. Worst movie I've seen in years!

NB4 is has to be seen in 3-D on big screen to appreciate the genius.

I regret not see this movie in the Theater, it might have made it more entertaining because I thought it was bad as well.

yeah it's a purely visual movie. it's worthless outside of a theater in 3D

It was undeniably a visual treat and Cuaron is obviously a great director but everything else about the movie was rather cliche and blah.

I watched it on a pretty nice screen in my media room.

Doesn't matter. It still sucked.

But you watched it on HBO in the comfort of your living room, an environment Cauron never intended for you to watch it in. Therefore, your opinion is irrelevant.

And that's the point. You have a nice media room you're familiar with and love. No matter how amazing your media room is, that alone ruins the movie. A home environment can't produce the sheer isolation that a random seat in a theater can provide.

I guess the critics, box office, and the Academy were wrong then. This movie sucks. It's one of the worst movies made last year even though it came within a hair's breadth of winning Best Picture.

I thought it awesome. I already knew what was going to happen, due to everyone talking about it but still it was mighty intense. Idk maybe I just know how to enjoy a movie.

Not defending this movie, as I left an IMAX 3D theater thinking "meh," but I think a huge majority of people don't really appreciate the impact of being in an isolated environment with no stimulus but what the director wanted can have on the experience.

The guy with a puffed up chest sporting the 70 inch thinks he is in the same ballpark in spite of all the objects in the viewer's peripheral vision, non viewers coming and going, having a conversation with them with the movie still playing, the ability to pause the movie while you go do something else for a half hour, etc etc etc.

No pausing the movie and my puffed up chest would be my big breasts.

Exactly. If you watched it in the theater or IMAX in 3D and didn't like it, fine. But if you watch it on HBO on a couch on your 10 foot screen, a very familiar environment solely ruins the experience that Cuaron is trying to convey. The fact that you're in the comfort of your house makes sure you can't appreciate what Cuaron is trying to say. You can't experience extreme isolation on the chair you sit on 350 days out of the year. You've got that comfort of your living room. You don't have such comfort in a random theater. That's why I find anyone who watches it at home and says its a horrible movie laughable. As far as I'm concerned, they saw a completely different movie as I did and their opinion should be taken as such.

Oh you're a woman? I wish you would have opened with that in your OP so I wouldn't have wasted my time reading it.
