DoFP is a different animal. No conviction. Only allegations way after the fact. Also, word came out after anyone who worked on the movie knew anything.

Woody Allen could murder someone in cold blood on live TV and I would still consider Crimes and Misdemeanors a masterpiece. I'm not going to stop watching something simply because a party involved in the film's development isn't a model citizen.

I'm not really familiar with the situation. What did Allen do?

He wasn't exactly a child molester. Soon-yi was 19 when he allegedly started the relationship with her. He eventually married her, and I think they are still married today.

What people get freaked out about is that she was Allen's longtime girlfriend's, Mia Farrow, adopted daughter. So in a way he shacked up with his young but not underage step daughter, and he dumped his longtime girlfriend for her. It's a pretty skeezy situation for sure, but people blow it a little out of proportion.

ETA: Roman Polanski on the other hand was in fact a straight up child molester.

Wiki has this quote on their Woody page:

quote:

On Father's Day 2012, Ronan Farrow tweeted "Happy Father's day – or as they call it in my family, happy brother-in-law's day."

Yeah she was Mia's adopted daughter, but woody had virtually no relationship with her until the age of 19 and they never lived together. He spent almost no time around her kids. Even Mia admits this.

Yeah it was weird at the time, but the fact they are still married over 20 years later retroactively justifies the whole thing imo. Soon yi is a grown damn woman and has been for a very long time.

Time to let this go.

Woody is a legend of American comedy and filmmaking. His cultural relevance can not be overstated.

Allen is more creepy than criminal. What Polanski did should have kept him locked away for years.

I get that Hollywood is liberal but I can't understand the knuckleheads that defend a guy who drugged a 13 year old and had anal sex with her. Nothing is disputed. He drugged her and had sex with her, yet Polanski has been defended from day one.

This one really has me shaking my head.
