Is it basically a romance show or is there more stuff going on here.

I love that time period but I'm worried this is the notebook during the 1700's.

Very interested to start it, want to see what the board thinks.

It is very good.

Was very skeptical but my wife convinced me to watch the first season with her. Glad I did.

There is a lot of sappy romance in it, but there is also enough political history, violence and nudity to keep me very interested.

The last couple episodes of season 1 were tough to watch though...very good but tough to watch.

Good deal, starting tonight.

Most of what I have read is that it starts slow but picks up big time, especially season 2.

Pretty good. Like has been said there's enough politics, history, and action to keep it interesting. The romance side is always there, but usually not overwhelming.

Every time I see it on the guide I scream it "Children of the Corn" style. That is all I got.

GF loves it, I hate it. It's basically softcore porn for women. Like the show version of a dime-store romance novel.

Watched the first episode. It reminded me of those books that you used to see at the front of the grocery store.

Really good.

You'll get laid for at least three days if you watch season one episode 7 with a female.

So basically, it's a show that women swoon over?

I'll pass.

It is based on a series of books. The books are aimed at a target audience of women. However, the books are a combination of romance, historical fiction, sci fi, mystery, and drama. I LOVED the books and as a huge fan of the books I have to say the series has done a fantastic job of bringing the books to life.

Season 2 just finished this past weekend. Season finale had me crying. Yes there is a lot of sappy romance...but like others said...enough other stuff in the storyline to keep men interested as well. Just know that that main storyline of the series/books is Jaime and Claire's love story. Everything else is just what happened to be going on during their love story.

Lots of nudity btw. And lots of very well filmed battle or just violent scenes. If you like historical pieces...you will enjoy this. They do a very good job of making you think you are in 18th century Scotland(and France in Season 2) with the costumes and locations they filmed at. Show makes me want to visit Scotland it looks so beautiful.

wife loves it, i think its really good but not an A list like Game of Thrones

season 1 is basically softcore porn with a little history mixed in. picks up a lot towards the end of season 1. season 2 has been great. lots of history, MUCH less sex and romance, and good battles.

i think its a solid B show. worth a watch IMO but for Starz i think Black Sails and the Missing were better.

Yeah, I dunno.

It is kinda a chick show . . . to me anyway. I tried to watch but just couldn't. My wife likes it a lot.

Just finished Season 2 - it was great, a good bit better than Season 1. There's lots for both gals and guys here. If you've been to Scotland (especially Culloden) a lot of it will make sense. Can't wait for S3.

I've watched Season 1 and the start of Season 2 (before Starz dropped it off their OnDemand). I've enjoyed it. I think it has some good balance between the romance and the action. And it deals with some pretty heavy shite and dealt with it well IMO.

Season two is definitely not a chick show. Lots of drama and violence. And likely the most beautifully shot series.

All of all, it's one of the better shows out there right now. Starz is on Fire.
