Why didn't Quinn and Carrie simply drove to the edge of the barricades and get out of the vehicle with the PE? There was no way the police/ secret service/ etc were going to shoot her in the streets. All they had to do was get out and expose the two in the parking garage as McClendon's group and the plot to assissinate the PE.
The only thing that I can think of is that Quinn wanted to die. He certainly wasn't happy living in the condition that he was in.

Yeah plus he wasn't taking any chances
I just wondered where the cops were after the bombing. You're in downtown NYC and they are all alone in a hotel
Also, I really liked her black chief of staff guy. Sad he died.

I think the entire assasination attempt/scene was sloppily written, and reminded me of season 2, where the plot holes and suspension of disbelief required was just too much.
First, there were hundreds of police and secret service at the hotel, and only a few of those delta guys were in on the plot, so yes, Quinn just driving thru the barricade was completely pointless. PE just needed to show her face, and it's all over.
Secondly, once the bombing failed to hit the desired target, sending in those 2 guys seemed silly. Were they really going to execute her right there? There were security cameras all over the hotel, and even if not, forensics would identify the bullet and weapon.
Edit- I do get the feeling he was fine with dying, but it was unnecessary and the entire sequence was too far fetched.

Is Alex Jones getting royalties because of the Brett O'Keefe character?
I haven't read the whole thread but I assume it's been discussed what a hideous joke of an accent he attempted right? I'm not sure I've ever heard someone do a worse job.
And yes I realize he is going for over the top in this character but I don't think that meant attempting southern one word then 2 words later going Brit.

What parallels do y'all gather from this season with the current climate?
Do y'all see this as an attack on trump and Fox News or the whole system in general?

Neither.

It's one thing for a season finale to leave cliffhangers but this wasn't really cliffhangers...more like just a bunch of WTFs.
What was the purpose of bringing back the German philanthropist guy for one scene if he had zero to do with the plot?
Why offer Carrie the position and then shut her out? If Kean is going to arrest Saul, who had redeemed himself, why not just arrest Carrie, too? Why suddenly determine that Carrie is no longer useful and cast her out of the administration?
What was the scene with Max showing up and then the case worker? They could have closed the daughter loop by Carrie just telling Kean that she got her daughter back during the job offer scene and they didn't need Max & the caseworker for Carrie to find Quinn's pictures.
I suppose that closing scene is supposed to make the viewer think that Carrie is going to run for Congress?
How is the OKeefe character the only conspirator that avoids prosecution? Any investigation into the secret building surely would have linked right back to him. If you're going to sweep up the whole IC, some with no evidence against them, and look dictatorial, why not look like you're stifling the vocal opposition, too, considering how convenient it would've been to do so?

Gratitude and optics. (I can't believe I used the word "optics".) Carrie did save her life directly, gave her good counsel, and served a useful purpose "assuring" those about to be purged.

To show the stress in one of Carrie's friends and by taking him in, that she isn't a "changed woman" as she earlier professed she needed to show the judge. It thankfully didn't blow up this time, but it will eventually. I mean, she was getting rid of Quinn's shite while Quinn's passed-out replacement snored in his bed.

It would play into his hands and further enrage his followers, who are already at 11 on the crazy scale.

It, more than once, got me to the point of thinking they were attacking Trump then they'd back off and go the other direction so no not really. Although, with the PE a russian plant or whatever they are going to make her who knows maybe next season.

The president in the show is more of an amalgamation of Trump and Hillary.
Read up on this last night and apparently the first 8 episodes were written before the election and with Hillary in mind. The last episodes were written after the election, which is why they pivoted more towards the sock puppets, Intelligence Community fighting the President, and then eventually the arresting of all political enemies angle.

The president in the show, however, will not be based on any one existing politician. “Every season, when we’re developing stories, we are terrified of being counter-factual by the time we air, or irrelevant, so this year we’re sort of hedging our bets in terms of our president,” Gansa said. “Although she’s a woman, she’s a little bit Hillary Clinton, a little bit Donald Trump, and a little bit Bernie Sanders.”

how was Sal not blown up?? Wasn't there only 3 suvs and Carrie stopped the 3rd? The other 2 were blown up.
Yeah that made no sense and they just glossed over it
I think they are making Keene out to be a Manchurian Candidate type

The accent Brett O'Keefe was doing was some weird mashup of Baltimore, American Deep South and Australia
