But it didn't come out until a book was released in 2007? This sounds like George rewriting history and trying to tie his new shitty idea to his older good ideas to give it credibility. frick him.

Just because the concept was in his mind in 1977, doesn't mean it's not a lame concept. Jar Jar Binks could have been in his mind as well at the time. It's an easy and ridiculous way to explain away "The Force."

I still say George was a victim of his own success and the Giant it had become. I don't think there was anyone that could go up to George and say "Um. No. Lets think about this some more." Not even Spielberg, who no matter what he says I don't believe for a moment 'nuking the fridge' was his idea.

George literally became the the sale Tommy was talking about in this scene in Tommy Boy.

What's wrong?

He is the one that came up with the whole idea, and Midichlorians were there the whole time. He didn't suddenly come up with this for the prequels. So if you hate the idea of midichlorians, then hate the whole notion of the force.

The notion of the Force is an awesome notion. So awesome, that just explaining it away by some biological presence is just such a lame concept. Again, it doesn't matter if he thought of it in 1977 or for the prequels. It's still a bad idea.

Why must they go hand in hand?

Because they do?

It's something up to the viewer to decide. Like some here who had this crazy notion that just anyone could have the power despite what was said in VI.

He turned the force into a bunch of gobbledygook.

It was always gobbledygook.

When Lucas created the first three, he was influenced by the writings Carlos Castaneda who was very popular then.
Then when he went to make the prequels, he had grown out of that and had to invent some other BS to "explain away" the earlier mysticism.

Basically, it makes the jedi no different than the x-men.

It wasn't gobbledygook in the OG series.

If it makes you feel better to think of it that way, then by all means do so.
