In your zeal to troll you are missing the point. Lucas said he doesn't want the force to become some "goobledegook" or whatever and it was he, himself that did that wit h the idiotic midicloprians. What he said 30 years after the fact was his intention doesn't matter, because in the film he released it wasn't in there. That film is a matter of public record, so while he is free to tinker if he wants, the public is free to criticize it. The prequels were awful and he seems to have taken the criticism way too personal and is doubling down on defending them.

It seems that over time Lucas became way too politically correct, he wrote basically a fairy tale, but OMG by the 90's we can't have a monarchy, so he has the Queen "elected" at 14. Rather than have the force be a mystical "religion", he wants to have a scientific basis, again it is his right, but that doesn't mean it is not fricking stupid.

He is the one that came up with the whole idea, and Midichlorians were there the whole time. He didn't suddenly come up with this for the prequels. So if you hate the idea of midichlorians, then hate the whole notion of the force.

How about "frick You"? If he had that in his mind, then he doesn't get his own mythology. I don't think he really cross referenced this with Irvin Kershner and Lawrence Kasden since Yoda makes absolutely no reference to this. Did anyone really want to know the origin of the Force? Isn't its mysteriousness what makes it interesting instead of microscopic bacteria?

no, it doesn't because it is a terrible idea and in Empire he has Yoda explain it and he doesn't mention midiclorians.

Yeah, that scene is pretty definitive, where Yoda says that Luke's flesh does not matter at all. Actually, that's apparently bullshite from what the prequels tell us. You have to have a certain number of microscopic bacteria in you to be Force Sensitive, not have a consciousness to detect it. If Lucas had this back in 77, he either didn't tell Kershner, Kasden, or Brackett, or they all thought the idea was retarded and decided to take it in the more logical direction without Lucas.

Because he looks cool. Also... bounty hunter for a criminal empire. The fact he was mysterious was a huge draw as well. You hint at something more and let fans fill in the blanks.

Boba Fett stopped being a good character the moment they tried to flesh him out.

Yeah, agreed. Like when Vader lectures Boba particularly with the quote "No Disintegrations". Then they completely butchered his character in the prequels by making all the Clone Troopers clones of Boba Fett. If there are millions of Boba Fetts throughout the Galaxy, why is he so special and badass? They just made him one of millions of clones.

You're talking about the hack director and not the awesome poster who's trying to fist fight someone over mitoclorians.

I just wanted to clarify for anyone who's only casually reading this super important thread.

I will say that some of them aren't bad, I don't need them, but they aren't terrible. But there are quite a few that are horrible: Han/Greedo confrontation in the Cantina, changing the songs in "Jedi," adding the longer song with more CGI in Jabba's Palace in "Jedi," Hayden Christensen Force Ghost, and just noticing on the 2011 BluRay the terrible fricking "NOOOO!" by Vader has been added in that scene near the end of "Jedi."

This one I'm almost certain Lucas did that as a very deliberate frick you to the fans. He knew how much we loved that in "Revenge of the Sith", so he just put it in there to frick with us more. It's good to have contempt for your audience.

Because he sucks?

Empire is the absolute best because it wasn't written or directed by him.

Same reason Awakens will be awesome.

Do we seriously have someone here defending midichlorians?

My god.

That's like defending ISIS.

Exactly. I mean, some people are born like Steve Buschemi, and some people are born like Herschel Walker. Theres no special microorganisms that make Herschel Walker a freak athlete. Does it really need to be any more difficult than that?
