He was a little shite, but his scenes were classic. Total dick
The Lannisters just seem kind of boring without him.
ETA: I loved how he seemed so sincere in thanking Tyrion for the book, then chopped it in pieces with the sword.

Yeah I thought that was hilarious. At first I was thinking "what a mature thing for him to say"

Certainly it'd be ridiculous to think Tyrion could have poisoned Joffrey minutes after the humiliation...not that others wouldn't use it as a reason to scapegoat him, but anyway.
Assuming Tyrion isn't involved at all (and I think that's quite likely), it is an awfully convenient distractor for the real killer(s) - leaves plenty of opportunity to destroy evidence and/or skip town.
Leave it to Joffrey to have his own douchebaggery make it impossible to find his real killer(s).
And the true shame for Tywin - Joffrey was 200% Lannister.

What's the general consensus on who poisoned him in here?

How and when did she get it in the cup?

That's the only possible way

Honestly though, there have been theories that name nearly everyone.
General concensus is that the fool played a major part, based on his actions with Sansa.

He definitely had knowledge. And I think Varys did too based on how antsy he was the whole episode.

Has anyone suggested Grandpa Lannister spearheading a conspiracy? I could see him growing tired of Joff's shite, and the crown moving to the next boy, by way of the queen regent, would still leave the old man "the most powerful man in the kingdom."

Well - I assume that Varys knows virtually everything - albeit sometimes with a little delay. The question is - did he know and do nothing about it - assuming neither he nor Cersei are directly involved, she's going to be on him like white on rice, in a glass of milk on a paper plate in a snowstorm about either why he didn't warn them or why he didn't know about the plot - he's wrong either way.

Sansa was the only other person to touch the cup. I think she was involved, especially after he embarrassed her with the skit about killing her brother

I could see this too
Honestly anyone that isn't Cersei or a Tyrell has pretty strong motive

I'm liking my theory more and more.

Why would he? Like I said the only people that are mad about Joffrey dying are Cersei and the Tyrells

Well, Cersei thinks he works for her. She's probably already mad one of her own people had to tell her about Shae - but that's small folk trifles. He can't have an answer for her she will like:
"Your Grace, I had no idea." <- Cersei
"Your Grace, I knew something was afoot, but I had nothing definitive to bring to you." <- Cersei

Varys is smart enough to deal with Cersei. She's a dumb bitch

She's dangerous, though. I see a de-evolution of Cersei to a form of Lysa - grossly overprotective to a fault.
Much will depend on how much influence the "new" Kingslayer will have on Cersei in the aftermath of Joffrey's death.
