Hell yeah!! I'd recommend watching Season 1 before Season 2 premieres. It's only 10 episodes. The show is amazing .

Guess that solves it. Should look nice on some blu ray.

they didn't have the budget for a big battle for season 1 but lots of cool fights. Drama and twist galore. Very likeable characters. This story isn't your classic ok good guys badguys. a lot of characters who are in the middle who are trying to win by any means necessary. After the first episode ending you will be hooked

I just got caught up through Season 1.

Damn, I love this series. I can't believe I missed the first run.

Are the books hard to follow/in Old English-esque kind of speak? Or is it somewhat easy to read?

They are not difficult to read (as in the language).

However, when I first read them, I had to flip to the appendix and to the map to understand the houses & people involved and where the frick they were.

There are a TON of names listed thru the book. Sometimes with no backstory when they appear. But besides that, they are fricking awesome. Probably the best fantasy series I've ever read.

SPOILER QUESTION

I'm curious as to just where in the books people figured out the JS mystery. I was working in E Texas and had never heard of Martin when I grabbed a handful of paperbacks from a drugstore. One of them was CoK, Once I started it, I read it in two nights and then lied about a Dr.'s appointment so I could ride to Shreveport and buy GoT.

Reading Dany's vision of a blue rose growing from a chink in a wall of ice made me really pay attention to any references to the blue roses of Winterfell. (They're mentioned a number of times in connection with Lyanna.) The ToJ sealed it for me, "Lyanna in her bed of blood".

SPOILER QUESTION

Honestly, I didn't even think about it until I went to some of the websites after finishing ASOS. I just assumed Ned was the father and we didn't know the mother. I was pretty naive. R+L=J seems so obvious now, especially after I reread GoT.

A LOT of people have re-read the series many times due to GRRM delaying the release of the 4th book for 2 years. When that occurs, they analyze ever little aspect of writing. Main plot points are already known and not as interesting as the small stuff scattered thru the books.

Have any of y'all seen the character videos for season 2? They have one for Jon Snow, Daenerys, Joffrey, Renley, basically the main characters, etc. Very interesting to watch if you have time.

I love that this thread has reached six pages for a trailer. That's TDK style hype

Incidentally, I spent an obscene amount of time watching the thirty hour GoT marathon on HBO this past weekend.

They are easy enough to read, but as said, it's really long.

A LOT of content ends up on the cutting room floor. If you just watch the show, you are getting only half the experience of what makes ASoIaF great.

Ten 1 hour episodes? You watched each of them 3 times?

Or due to the 6+ year wait for book 5 in spite of promises in 4 and he expects 5 out next year.

Except GoT actually deserves its hype, where as TDK just get extra hype from FanBoys.

The played the entire first season three times in a row. I didn't watch all 30 hours, but I kept tuning into it periodically throughout the weekend.

Yeah, no fanboys like GoT. It's only the TV watching elite.

*******Spoiler (I guess) Question about the trailer********

Who are the two guys fighting in single combat at ~39 seconds? One of them throws the other over a ledge. The guy who wins is wielding a morning star. Don't know why I can't think of this, but it's been bugging me since I just reread this book.

I no longer have HBO

This is going to be rough, I may have to wait a few hours after they come out to be able to watch them.

Small Spoiler

I thought it was Brienne vs Loras Tyrell in the melee of the tournament honoring Renly's marriage to Maegary Tyrell. If someone is thrown off a ledge though . . . maybe Loras killing the Rainbow Guard?
