He also had no other influence other than his mother who has warped his mind into thinking everyone else is crap compared to him.

Yo Gunner, why is Joffrey getting off from beating the beautiful Sansa. I want to fricking kill him. He is truly the most despicable character I have ever seen. Like ever.

If you're getting this from the trailer, then you have no idea how sadistic Joffrey really is.

You are absolutely right....I got CoK and SoS mixed up title wise.

My point still stands though.

I'm being completely serious.

I say it's 50/50 at BEST that Ned Stark is Jon's father.

There is just so much countering evidence suggesting otherwise.

Promise me, Ned....

I guess that makes sense, but I don't see how you can not read the book after reading the first one. I'd be too anxious. To me, I'd rather be spoiled while sitting through a television show that takes 0 effort to finish instead of spoiling a book that requires me to read 900 or so pages.

While I'm sure they'll touch on this in the TV series eventually, stuff like this is one of the better reasons to read the books. This entire scene and the questionable aspect of Jon's parentage on both sides got left entirely out of the first season on HBO.

That is my #1 aspect of the difference from the book to the show. I feel like so much crap is going to come out of leftfield for people because they haven't been in the characters' heads the entire time like in the book.

Exactly.

The smallest statement can become huge deals a book or two later

Perfect example: Tyrion and Tysha

They bring it up (by means of a fabricated drinking game), but they don't really show how big of a deal this is on a day to day basis, and it does play a large role in explaining how he acts the way he does in some ways

I think the whole fact that half of the Kingsguard sat out the war to guard the Tower of Joy locks up that theory.

To the point that I am convinced that if it doesn't happen, it's only because so many people guessed it and so he changes his planned big climatic curve ball.

This.

I had been trying to get my wife to read the books for years. She watched the first episode and started GoT the next day. She has now read all the books and holds out hope for Martin's continued good health daily just like the rest of us.

Yeah, this pretty much. Between what we know of Ned's personality in the first book, and all the Kingsguard being at the Tower, there is no other solution that makes logical sense.

I'm really hoping for a Howland Reed sighting in The Winds of Winter. He can clear all this up.

Yeah, there is going to be a frick ton of exposition in Reed's chapter.

My guess is that it will happen early in a Dream for Spring....i am torn as to whom it will be given to though.

I dunno.....was Robb a badass for not getting killed in place of his guards against Jaime?

Based off what we know, I think Reed is the bigger certifiable badass of the two.
