Guessing it has been brought up before but is it possible that the chief is on Vargas' payroll?

Possible but I think he is just dumb. But that could be a twist.

i was leaning to Nikki. But how would she know who to send to. Emmitt knew that guy was investigating.

So are we to believe that last episode didn't happen? The chick was about to die and is now totally fine like nothing happened.

SPOILER:

Go back and watch the scene at the bowling alley, as many times as it takes.

No, she is not "fine". I'll leave it at that. Mr. Wrench isn't "fine" either. And Yuri definitely isn't "fine".

The bowling alley scene really does lay almost all the cards on the table. It's one of the greatest scenes I've ever seen on television.

Another spoiler:

Nikki = Helga Albrecht, or her avenging angel in any case. Which ties it back to episode 1 and the interrogation.

I can understand why people don't like this season as much as 1 or 2. It's weird and mystical. But I'm into it as much as anything I've seen in a long time.

I just watched it again because I was curious about this. It's definitely Nikki. She tells Varga during their meeting "If I had brought the files and flash drive". It's what she took from the truck. How does she know who to send it to? The same way she's been doing everything else since the bowling alley. She no longer has mortal limitations.

The real question is - who is the wealthy widow? She's clearly more important than she appears. My guess is she's Varga's boss.

I think it was Emmitt. After his plan of confessing to the police fell through, he was backed in a corner. He knew that Varga knew what his plan was and Varga obviously had someone on the inside helping him. Since the police couldn't help him he had to the next best thing, the IRS. Remember it was the IRS that took down Al Capone when no else could. Maybe he figures they were his last resort and would get him on tax evasion if nothing else.

I guess it's possible but:

Nikki specifically says "files and flash drive" to Varga and we see her pull Varga's briefcase out of the truck. And how is Emmett going to put the package on the IRS agent's chair? An IRS office is going to have tight security which is a problem for Emmett, but not for Nikki anymore.

But maybe you are right, that Nikki's comment was misdirection and Emmett has grown a spine. That would be cool.

Damn. Didn't even pay much attention to her.

I can't wait to rewatch this whole season. I've missed plenty of clues.

This season has been slower, but I have enjoyed it more than anyone on this board, judging by the thread. It will be further down the road, but I can't wait to rewatch it in a binge.

I can't understand why Mr wrench didn't end the Asian kid.

Sounds interesting. What's your interpretation of the bowling alley scene?

They all died in the woods. The bowling alley is the equivalent of purgatory. Nikki has been sent back as an avenging angel and Mr Wrench has been given a chance to redeem himself. Yuri has been sent to hell. Nikki does not have mortal limitations any more and this is how she pulled off the Corvette, stamps, knew where the truck would be, knew the plan for the sniper, got the package into the IRS office.

Nice. I think you nailed it.

I blew through that episode and thought maybe they were hallucinating but what you said makes way more sense.

Don't judge me. I usually pick up on stuff like this better.

I think Nikki is more interested in money. Emmit wants to destroy Varga. He seems to have more motive for wanting to take him down.

Enjoyed the season somewhat, but miles behind 1 and 2 for me.

Not a very satisfying finale.

Agreed. Nowhere near 1 and 2 and what a cop out of an ending

Ending had a No Country feel to it. Everything else fell into place and hopefully Mr Wrench becomes the focus next season if there is one.

--------Spoiler alert re final episode-------

Who sent Varga the text that "IRS has the drives. Get out" ?

Did it indicate? Or does it suggest he has connections high in government that could give that tip and maybe also do as he predicted in the final scene?

So if Swango and her deaf pal were dead after the bowling alley, as suggested in this thread, did she die again when the trooper shot her? And deaf guy hung around like a ghost for 5 years to pop Emmitt.

I enjoyed the season, but I'm going to have to read some recaps to make more sense of some if it.

Yeah. Vargas was the best character of this season and to have that ending is a huge disappointment

Also, Sy was a huge character and then just felll off. That was a letdown

Varga gets away right? No way he comes back into the country unless he knows he is safe.

I enjoyed the season and the finale. My ranking for seasons is now 2,3,1. BUT...I hated the UFO shite last season, and have chosen to ignore it. Is the bowling alley more of the same nonsense? Also, can someone please explain the relevance of the 1st scene (East Germany) of the season? I agree with the theory that the text about the drives came from "inside", meaning Varga is going to walk right out of the end scene.
