Saving Private Ryan

First week it opened, weekday matinee with a bunch of WWII veterans in the theatre. They all clapped at the end. It was pretty moving.

I bet this happened across the country.

My only experience with applause was Rocky III .

Pretty legit, and probably happened all over.

I've probably averaged about one theater visit per year over the last 10 years, so I'm not the best to answer, but Inception got some light applause. It was probably my favorite movie experience, so I was joining them. Wasn't opening weekend.

People booed the ending of skeleton Key. Does that count?

Nobody applauded but everyone walked out in total silence. I've never experienced that with any other movie.

The same thing happened with "For Greater Glory". I never saw an entire crowd stay through the closing credits and until the lights came on. Not a single person got up after a 2.5 hour movie

That happened at my theater for in Lady in the Water.

Return of the King was the only applause I was witness to.
