so since superman is the most powerful, he absolutely must win the fight?
well hell, forget comics, lets just measure their power level super-saiyan style.

wait... even that doesnt work. didnt goku find a way to defeat buu?

i also fail to see how superman acting in a manner that is in line with how he has always acted and within the character traits assigned to him by those who write his stories is "going full retard". more like "going full superman".

Because what you are describing is not "having an ego", it is flat out being stupid.

Is he unaware that kryptonite will frick him up? Does he not try to avoid it?

Yea, to each their own. I enjoy the different takes.

Personally, I'm not that big of a fan of the JL. I like Justice League Dark and I've been reading the Uncanny X-force.

Justice League Doom is a perfect example of why the Justice League is flat stupid. A superhuman villain with super-intellect has to resort to a regular human's plan of attack against superhumans. Come on.

I love Batman. In his world, he makes sense, he is well written, dark, sometimes funny, and often reminds me of a well written detective by guys like Raymond Chandler. But he just doesn't belong in a world filled with guys who can shoot lasers from their eyes, fly, punch through five foot thick steel, shapeshift, etc. He belongs in a more realistic world in which he fights the mafia, corrupt government officials, and, occasionally, a supervillain grounded in some form of realistic ability (with the notable exception of Ra's, whose abilities themselves are not really superhuman, but who has access to the Lazarus Pit).

Go buy the novel Enemies and Allies. Its short, quick read. Set in the 50's, which is really cool.

as has been stated, the world at large would reject an alien showing up and sniping off a human superhero, let alone the single human superhero with no actual powers.
batman is just a dude with some toys and cool schtick, he cant shoot lazers out his arse or anything.

So superman can't use any of his powers? No super strength or flying? Essentially you're saying that superman can't fight Batman because it's like a girl hitting a guy at a bar, all he can really do is cover up and protect himself but if he throws a punch back he's a scumbag. So what are the rules here concerning what superman can or can't do here while not being a scumbag?

kryptonite fricks him up, yes, but he also knows at the end of the day Batman could never kill him.. especially if it's in a situation where Batman is battling Superman. in this case Superman is a lackey for the government, and batman is the "hero of the people" .. Superman KNOWS that batman wont kill him for being a government lackey... so he goes to talk to his old friend, instead of sniping him from space.

P.S: Only a villain in a comic universe would resort to sniping their old friend from space "because they disagree on a few things"

this whole discussion is ridiculous, if it's a situation where Batman is going against Superman, it always ends up in a brawl, because the two have a mutual respect for one another, and both know that the other is doing what they believe is right, and it's never AGAINST humanity... not EVER, which is what they both fight for!

not saying that at all. if thats what you took from the discussion, then its either over your head or you simply dont want to have an actual discussion about it.

and I would like to point out that I like Marvel much more than DC simply because the characters are grounded in humanity so much better than DC.. but I digress.

so what you are saying is Supes lets Batman get a few punches in that Supes cant even feel just to make Batman feel better?

ETA: i do love the nickname "Supes"

Batman would always beat Superman, because Superman is a dumbass.

I know the writers at DC have decided that Superman has a genius IQ, which he uses to formulate plans like "I'm going to punch that thing in the face" or "I am going to fly, run real fast, and then punch that thing in the face."

Batman is always thinking. He always has a contingency, and a contingency for that contingency.

The caveat with Batman is preparation. Given enough time to prepare, Batman can beat anyone. A-N-Y-O-N-E.

But in a spur of the moment "punch you in the face" battle, Superman wins because of the genius IQ that DC writers have decided he has. . .

Max Landis makes several good (and hilarious) points regarding that in this video:

it's true. It's the way Batman is written. He is the greatest strategist in the DC universe.

Here is an example, off the top of my head.

Batman could create create a blue kryptonite powder and feed it to supes over time, until his powers are gone.
