We don't need a lot of dialogue, just one word in that velvet-smooth limey voice. Just imagine sir Michael Cane saying the f word, isn't it beautiful in your mind? Mr Nolan, make this happen.
What a weird thing to be obsessed with. But didn't he drop an F bomb in Children of Men??
Maybe get your fix there

Well I'll be damned, according to IMDb he sure does. Trying to find it on YouTube right now, thanks!!!
Needless to say, I no longer give a shite about this movie or it's rating.

By comparison, only 68 R rated movies have made over 132 mil. And that rating has been around a lot longer.
I've read the argument that many PG-13 movies today would have been Rated R in the 80s and so forth.
Do you not find that to be the case?
I will say there seems to be a lot less nudity and cursing than those older movies. However, there is still some gore. For example, blood splattering the camera in Jurassic World.
My gut thinks movies overall have gotten sanitized more overall, and that Rated R in the 80s was very broad and covered lower tiers of violence, etc, as opposed to PG 13 covering higher ranges. Studios probably said screw it back then, once they met a certain level of violence there was no incentive to stop until they reached NC17. Now you have a landing spot provided by PG 13.

i agree. today's pg-13 gives a broader base. i.e. logan and deadpool. made great money, but they lost an extra $15 bucks by making it where i can't take my 10 and 7 year olds.
however, they can make superhero movies and Jurassic Parks that almost go there, but are still palatable for my kids while having some R Rated elements. PG-13 is where the money is at.

maybe he's going the Malick-route with this movie like The Thin Red Line.

I will burn everything down if he does this to Dunkirk.

Did anyone see Alien Covenant is rated PG13? A little pissed about that.
No way. I don't believe it.
And if Dunkirk is cut more from the Malick cloth, I'd be totally fine with it. I love Thin Red Line.

It doesn't have to do too much to be better than The Thin Red Line. If it's not as good as Malick's overrated WWII film then it's a bad movie.

I need to re watch this, I just remember not liking Nick Nolte's character. Love the book.

Nolan's strengths are in his narrative and his use of elements of time. I think this this can be an excellent film without violence and/or profanity.
There isn't a lot of profanity in Nolan's movies anyway.

Didn't Nolan say there's very little dialogue in the movie? If so, maybe he's going the Malick-route with this movie like The Thin Red Line.

To be fair, the ratings come from the MPAA . . . the Motion Picture Association of AMERICA.
So, domestic box office receipts would be the only way to judge the domestic ratings.
