I don't know what genre I'd classify Game of Thrones - maybe a modern day epic? - but it has a chance to blow everything else out of the water when it's all said and done.

I'm with you on this. It's comparing apples to oranges with Breaking Bad and still has a loooooong way to go, but at this rate GoT might be in a class all its own a few years down the line.

Spartacus is the best

BB was depressing, all the characters are shitheads, and Skyler White is hideous inside and out.

I think Sopranos is #1, easily.

Breaking Bad and Mad Men are 2a and 2b.

Haven't seen The Wire yet

I personally think it's the best for many reasons.
No redemption, no life lesson, no happy ending, no stupid bullshite. The tale of a man who rises to greatness out of pure selfish greed and in the end his family is destroyed both as a unit and individually, countless people have died, and there's no redemption.

The sopranos took the easy way out in the finale and that pissed me off. And it cheapened the entire show.

The wire dwindled at the end. While it's earlier seasons may rival BB in my mind, it's overall product suffered and thus it is lower.

Length, drama, story, development, all outshines other series.

It's definitely the GOAT. Everything from beginning to end flowed perfectly and each season built more and more suspense.

Some people call this show 'overrated' and haven't even watched 1 episode yet.

I'd rather watch gladiators fight than watch gloomy characters bicker about meth. What's retarded about that?

I disagree. Walt is dead. That's a big one. His family is just fricked (maybe not financially, but certainly mentally), etc..

The Sopranos just went with the Tony kills people w/o consequences route and then lives happily ever after with his family.

I want an ending that ties "into" the whole story. It has to make sense; but it doesn't always have to tie everything up into a nice bow whether it's a "happy" ending or not. BB was the right ending for the story. Sopranos, not so much.

Tony died at the end. The "coma trip" after he was shot by Junior was a spiritual journey in which he was warned about his mafia life leading to his death. He chose not to heed this warning and paid the price.

Read this if you haven't already: LINK

Long read but the guy goes into insane detail to explain the last scene and how it relates to pretty much every major event in season 6.

It didn't do it to the degree that sopranos did (which you're right about btw), but it still did it. Walt was always going to die. I don't think anyone had any doubt about that. He killed all the bad guys, got the money to his family, saved Jesse. Idk, everything went exactly as planned in the end and it just kinda irked me.

It wasn't poorly done, just a tad vanilla for my taste

Never heard that one.

I'd prefer him waking up as Hal instead of that
