The art of portraying douche bags on film is an under appreciated endeavor. Its something the Academy and the Roscoe's sadly failed to address. So who is the biggest douche bag in the history of cinema? Heres what I got:

1. Fredo Corleone - portrayed by late Italian-American actor John Cazale in the Godfather series. The bar was set high here.

2. Steff - James Spader in Pretty in Pink. I would also like to add that Spader probably should garner some type of life time achievement in this category for his roll here and in Less Than Zero. The man really knows how to be extremely unlikeable on film.

3. William Zabka - Johnny in Karate Kid. Would be rated higher if not for the "You are OK Laruso" comment after his defeat where he betrayed his true douche bag nature. Was also excellent in "One of the Guys".

Truly these actors have a real dedication to the craft. You have to believe their portrayals of these characters had some type of real negative influence in their real lives, yet they soldier on for the greater good. Bravo.

Who did I miss?

Dude, as much as I hate Ben Affleck, the perfect role for him was the douchebag he played in Dazed and Confused.

2 and 3 were very powerful because everyone probably knows people that were like that in school. There a very relateable type of douche bag. Thats part of their brilliance.

As stated above. Any movie role played by this guy...

You left out his role on the swim team in Back To School with Rodney Dangerfield

I'm also pretty fascinated with how the people who wrote rolls for these classic douchebags were able to hit the nail square on the head. Did they bring in a team of consultant douche bags? Were they them self that particular type of douche bag? Fascinates me.

Don't forget that Zabka hit the douchebag trifecta in "Back to School" as Chas (even the name is a douchebag). He was the go-to douchebag of the 80's.
