Big Ern from Kingpin, although he's such a douchebag that the hilarity of it almost makes him cool.

Roy from Better Off Dead was an ubelievable douchebag. "Meyer, huh? Is he your main weiner man?"

Demone from Fast Times at Ridgemont High needs to be in the top 5. Nothing quite says douche bag like not taking your girlfriend to get an abortion.

This guy popped up in some other douchey rolls in the 80's also. "Up the Creek" comes to mind. Was quite the douche as Al Bundy's neighbor also. Good douche bag there.

edit: Roy was a different douche than the guy I am thinking about, Alpha Beta douche from Revenge of the Nerds.

Yeah, Ted McGinley was the classic douche from RotN and Bundy's neighbor (as well as the photographer on Love Boat).

The only other movie I've seen Roy in was an indie film I saw on HBO a while back called "We Married Margo."

Kudos to the Harry Ellis from Die Hard call. That guy did so much for douche bags in such a short period of time. His air time to douche bag ratio has to be off the charts.

All these nominies are deserving of the top honor. The reason I put Fredo as number 1 because I read an article somewhere about him and how muuch of a negative impact that ROLE had on his real life. Apparently he could not spend any time in any Italian-American communities without people messing with him. Like Sir Alec Guiness, he was really more of a stage actor, and came to resent his most famous big screen ROLE.

You mean his role as wannabe transsexual in Dog Day Afternoon didn't rescue his reputation?

Peter Fonda's role in The Limey was pretty douchebaggy.
