Pretend you are a GM. It's the beginning of April, and your team is getting ready for a long playoff run and possibly a championship. You can add one player from the below list to add to your team. Add one, and briefly explain why. Assume that your team has an equal need for improvement in every area/category.

Off the waiver wire, you have your choice of -

Josh Smith
JR Smith
Andrea Bargnani
Swaggy P
Steve Blake
Thabo Sefolosha

JR Smith. I think he's proved it the past week at the Cavs.

Picking from the perspective of the Hawks (who already have Thabo) I don't think I would pick up any of them. None of them would fit the style.

But if I was a random team picking a player I would go with JR Smith probably, or Josh Smith if I could be assured he wouldn't jack up stupid shots and just rebounded and played D.

He still has upside, its just a matter of him staying healthy.

blake

veteran backcourt depth, can knock down the open shot. i've built my team around defense and rebounding so i want someone who will buy in which eliminates at least 3 of the others

Swaggy P.

Reason: Irrational confidence guys are dangerous as frick in the playoffs. Think Nate Robinson with teh Bulls.

i think of J.R. Smith against the Hornets in '09... he might just score barely into double digits but it feels like more because it makes the building jump

from games 2-5 of that series he was 14/26 from 3

I have to go with JR Smith simply because when he's on fire, there is no one who can stop him.

I had to go with him. He has the ability to play 2-3 positions. Has by far the most playoff experience. Is the best defender on the list, so he doesn't have to score to be effective. Has a good reputation as a team guy and is unselfish, so he should fit in without making any waves.

I thought about Blake, but I think the age part is a factor. Bargnani just has too many injury issues. The other 3 are just crap shoots and need the right teams to be effective..

Steve Blake will make the right play 80% of the time.

Sefolosha easily, he's a great complimentary piece on any team.

These choices seem so random.
