While he was being evaluated, Moore was found to have bleeding on his heart and was airlifted to St. Mary's Hospital in Grand Junction. He had emergency surgery there on Friday. A family spokeswoman announced on Sunday that he'd suffered a "brain complication."

Moore was the first to make a run in the freestyle competition, in which riders navigate their 450-pound snowmobiles over a series of jumps in 75 seconds.

Attempting a backflip late in the run, Moore under rotated his sled and it did not get far enough down the landing ramp. The snowmobile's skis planted atop the ramp, knocking Moore off. After rotating 360 degrees, the skis of the sled landed on Moore as he slid down the ramp.

What's crazy is I think 3-4 other guys also crashed on that same ramp on the same night. And Moore had help walking off the course, but was able to walk off without much assistance (you could tell he was loopy though).

That's just crazy.

Wow, I watched the video of him crashing a couple of days ago at work. I was thinking he was lucky to walk away from that.

This guy was at the monster truck show in Alexandria a couple weeks ago. He set up and did a backflip on a snowmobile. Very sad!

So they didn't immediately rush him to the hospital?

His brother was one of them. He went to the hospital and had a separated pelvis or something. I saw it live as well and asked myself why I was watching people try and kill themselves.

IIRC, one of the other guys who crashed (twice) was actually a motorcyclist who had no more than a half hour experience of any kind on a snowmobile.

Thats terrible. Jumping snow mobiles is one of the stupidest sporting events I have ever heard of, it should be removed from winter games.
