Why isn't AI more appreciated?

In an era where all the other top stars went through the motions for most of the season, AI played like it was game 7 of the NBA Finals every single night and brought an intensity to the floor rarely seen. Even so a lot people say they hated him when he was a player.

Is it because the tattoos and thuggish appearance is/was threatening to a lot of white America?

Are most people so closed minded and dim witted that they can't look past that and see that he cared far more about the game than most if not all his contemporaries?

Maybe it's the fact that he attempted 22 shots per game despite having a career field goal percentage of 42%? If Iverson was less of a ballhog and more efficient from the field, he would have gotten the credit that he deserved.

Appearance? Not like the guy was in the middle of a race brawl at the local bowling alley during high school.

Unless, of course, it was practice.

He's not exactly the best of teammates. Denver could not succeed like they wanted to with him and Melo on the roster.

Show me where he was in that video.

Favorite player when I was in high school. Had an AI Georgetown and old arse Red 76ers jersey. I hated Camby and loved when he dunked on him at UMass. Then he shook Jordan and I for a week.

I guess you never watched him play if you disagree with that.

Says who? I watched him play a lot of ball and never noticed him go above and beyond the effort being put out by other players.

i like AI a lot and always did but there are tons of reasons not to like him. some are in this thread.

his "practice" rant is idiotic. most people like hard workers willing to help the team and shite like that. "practice" went directly against that and regardless of how awesome it is, it's a good reason to think he's a lazy frick.

Well he basically had to be like that with the Sixers. No help at all.

I sat courtside for the Hornets-Sixers playoff game and AI fell on me diving for a loose ball. I was covered in AI sweat and was pumped about it

Truthfully, I'm pretty indifferent on Iverson. But the "practice" rant definitley portrayed the wrong message.
