It's because he is not viewed as a Superstar who carries his team. Spurs, when at their, best play the ultimate team game. Which is why those who were astute had a good idea that adding a ball stopper like Aldridge more than likely would not be the piece that could get this team back into the Finals.

its what the spurs and their players have always gotten. for how much success they have had, they have also had a lot of playoff failure but youll never hear of it

Well I mean name a team that never experienced playoff failure. Kind of a dumb thing to hold against a team with 4 titles

i mean they have had legit, surprising failures. they lost to an 8 seed as a 1 seed, theyve blown a 2-0 series lead, this year. for how great they have been, they have also had multiple playoff runs where they just shite the bed

His mild-mannered temperament is a factor.

It's the only factor.

The same with KD in the past. If you're quiet and keep your head down, no one will really give a shite. Personality of any type will become polarizing as your career grows and eventually people will take a side.

Make no mistake, even someone like Curry is going to have the media and national audience turn on him one day too, but they have to lose first.

Durant noticeably missing from this list as he gets the same passes Kawhi is getting now.

It is a good point that players seemed to be rewarded twice for championships. They are praised for the win and their failures are glossed over. Where guys who haven't won a title, pre-Maimi LeBron, Harden, Dwight, etc, are crucified for every single failure.

KD is quiet too but he's getting shite because of the talent surrounding him.

Westbrook is disliked

Curry will get shite if he loses too.

Everyone loves kawhi, he was a nobody

It's all about winning one early. If you get it out of the way they will never build a story around your failures.

He can't create his own offense which is why the idea of him being Scottie Pippen was so ridiculous

Those are decent stats. Near 40% is not a bad game.

People have become much to fixated on the 3 point shot. That isn't his game.

When Lebron, Westbrook, and Harden have these performances and get ousted prematurely, the critics (and MSB) crucify these guys.

What gives, gents?

Those guys are superstars, and are treated as such. Leonard isn't. He is on a TEAM, where multiple players share the blame and glory. That is both the beauty and detriment of superstar status.

You didn't watch many spurs games, did you? Most of his baskets were from creating his own shot. Averaged 21 a game.

He has improved some in that regard. But I was really hoping we would get a chance to o see Kawhi try to lead a bad team. Will never happen in San Antonio.

When you're so consistently good for so long that's going to happen. The Patriots lost to Giants teams led by Forrest Gump twice, they also lost an 18 point lead in an AFC championship. You are right though, the Spurs get a lot less shite for their losses than a team like the Patriots do, in general they just aren't hated enough despite their success

Not really.

He's said a lot of stuff over the years that other top stars wouldn't get away with without wall to wall coverage talking about it for 3 days.

It's a bad game when you average 50% over the course of a season.

He hit 2 a game and a 45% clip in the regular season.

The team (and his 2nd place MVP finish) was so dominant in the regular season b/c Kawhi shot 50% from the field and hit an efficient 2 3's per.

He's so well liked that people in this thread are even defending his terrible performances.

Sub 40% is inefficient, it's nowhere near "decent" or "not bad"

44% on 4 attempts per game.
