I don't know if Disney is calling the shots or what but they seem to inject themselves into every issue and make it more than what it really is in an attempt to appear "tolerant" and "open minded" and "progressive".
you act like tolerance and open mindedness are bad things

Nobody likes to see people get killed.
I've never watched one second of Nascar or whatever in my life and barely know who Tony Stewart and I've read a bunch of stuff on this. only because someone died.
death = ratings

I have quit watching them because of it.
Yep. The only thing I watch now is college football and College Gameday Final (sometimes). I can't tell you the last time I watched Sportscenter...and I used to watch it every morning from the age of 5 until my early 20s.
I really don't like ESPN much any longer.

What happened to ESPN?
What happened to all TV?
It all sucks.

Kellerman got suspended because he told a story about one time long ago his then-girlfriend (now wife) slapped him and he slapped her back. But apparently espn had told all it's personalities to drop the domestic violence talk and kellerman didn't listen. Sounds to me like the nfl got tired of the bad pub and told espn to hush it.
Great job of failing to explain the situation OP.

why does ESPN do this
Because their journalists come out of the same J-schools that all the people in the mainstream media come out of. If those journalists have a left-wing bias then it shouldn't surprise you when ESPN journalists have a left-wing bias.

That's poor logic.

Not really, but it does play a role.
As for the others asking "what is wrong with wanting to be fair, etc".
The point is this:
ESPN is supposed to be a SPORTS network. It is bad enough their sports biases override everything they do, that now they have to insert POLITICS into it.
I watch SPORTS to get away from POLITICS.
I don't give a frick if Tim Tebow prays.
I don't give a frick if Donald Sterling says something in private to his 40yo side piece.
I want to watch sports. It isn't just ESPN. That asshat Costas is doing it now too.
Leave Politics out of Sports.
Thanks.

I like how Goldennugget has reached the point where he gets 20 downvotes regardless of subject matter....he's like the MSB version of Rex

So Fox News analysts went to right wing I schools?
And politics is in everything. It would be irresponsible for a company like ESPN not to discuss it just because they're a sports channel.

because they dream of being "real" journOlists and that's what they do
That, and it's owned by the same company as ABC, left wing as shite, just SOP
