Miami fans are bad, more concerned with talking smack over the internet then attending games. Terrible stadium, recruits rather go to FSU/UF or OOS, bad coaching.

Pretty much just all bad.

They actually have a big fan base here in jacksonville. Of course, we are six hours north so I doubt these people are going to games every week.

Colorado is another program that just went wandering. It takes a village if a school is going to be a long-time national power. From Presidents to AD's to donors to a fanbase that will unconditionally support the program. Without all of that and some willingness to deal with occasional bad press, sanctions will take a strangle hold.

I'd add that although the Big East became a lame football conference, it was plenty strong during Miami's run. Cuse, WV, Pitt & *VT all had stout, competetive programs before they became coach farms.

* VT being an exception, as Beamer's been there since Toto.

I don't see this in the record books

ETA: I found it. It was actually in 2005 in the Peach Bowl

not sure if that is true TBH

he has done an amazing job over at UTSA.

I'm sure. He inherited the greatest roster ever and it was simply downhill from there. Pretty sure Miami got worse each year of his tenure

coker was horrible. actually miami is interesting because after the 94 season they were absolute dog shite for a few years due to some sanctions, than butch davis brought the program back to life for a few years, giving larry coker the most talented roster in college football history. as previously stated, the hurricanes got worse each season that coker was there.

He must've been the worst recruiter ever. They haven't been elite since all of the Davis guys left after the 03 season.

I feel like Miami was built on a reputation of being edgy and cool. Once the coolness ran its course they had nothing (facilities, donors, attendence, tradition) to fall back on.

Dude... That sanction set them back for a few years.

But I think they have their coach in Golden.

The head of the college is a woman who hates sports. Or she was, don't know if she is still in charge.

As someone who lives in Miami I will tell you.

The school does not support the team like other big state schools do. (We don't have a stadium, it's in "talks" right now) UM is very academic focused.

Awful coaching this past decade, I mean terrible.

These coaching choices make a lot of SoFLA players head to Gville or Tally.

No money goes into new facilities, recruiting, and keeping a cool image. New uniforms just wont cut it.

A small private school, zero fanbase, recruiting from the ghetto. They have to cheat, and cheat hard, to be good.

UM has a huge fan base, you're ignorant if you think differently. You have to realize the stadium is 30 minutes from campus. What student wants to travel 30 minutes to a football game? I sure as hell wouldn't want to. The stadium has an awful tailgate scene and is in Miami Gardens which is a complete and utter shithole. Administration is too hard headed to realize football success will only grow UM more. If UM built a stadium by campus I promise you people will fill it up. (This is what they're trying to figure out) Miami football is still the talk of the town, don't think differently. UM has a reputation as a safe, uppity, rich, and very good private school (located in the nicest suburb in Dade County) yet they can still have a huge following in the ghetto. Recruiting from Liberty City built the U. The school was the first college to take and field straight thugs, nothing wrong with that - my high school built their name doing the same

Here's the distance from Campus to the stadium.

I see Miami stickers and shirts everywhere. How big of "fans" they really are I have no idea.

Maybe so, but it's completely irrelevant to University of Miami. Do you want to compare our football program to yours? I dont think so.

Which is strange, considering that's exactly what happened 30 years ago.
