Businessmen specials are an American institution, play hooky and pick your kids up to catch a day game without their mother being the wiser.

but the median age I believe is 55+
Median age? IE half are older, half are younger than 55? I'm gonna need to see some support for that.
ETA: Even if that were true, the comment that said they play day games because their audience is retired is laughably moronic. Outside of the Cubs, i'm not sure how "often" weekday day games are played outside of the open week, maybe a handful (10-12 over the season?). But there is this thing called tradition on top of the travel accommodations other have mentioned.

I enjoy turning day baseball on in the background at work. Day baseball is the best kind of baseball.

The fans are getting older though.
Last year's viewership was much younger than years before. Like I said, younger viewership and ratings are only on the upward trend

As a season ticket holder, I love the day games and make as many of them as possible, which is actually most of them.

Dont you think the postseason ratings had more to do with markets like the mets, Cubs and Astros participating more so than an increase in interest in the sport?

A getaway game is where you bet the under. Lots of first pitch swinging going on in those games.
And big strikes zones by home plate umpires.

All three of those teams have very young players and up and coming stars or stars already.

On top of the fact of getaway games. I also think the MLB has a rule that a team has to have a minimum amount of day games every season.

It's for travel reasons as a lot of people on this thread have been saying. Almost all weekday afternoon games occur on the last game of a series. The only exception to the rule are the Cubs with their Friday afternoon day games. You can't expect players to fly from Pittsburgh to San Francisco overnight and play a game the next day. They would only get four or five hours of sleep.

Because no one cares. Baseball is doo doo.

Wow, that's way older than i would have guess, thanks for the support.
Never the less, the day games are not scheduled because they think their fans are retired and can go do day games
I just looked over the Astros schedule and it looks like they have about 8-10 day non-holiday, weekday day games, so not sure if that counts as "often".

It amazes me that kids these days have no idea what a "get away game" is about.
F'ing this.
