It's tradition to cut work and go to the game.

A badass one at that. And there really aren't THAT many. I think there are like 10-15 here in STL. We overlook the ballpark and the office basically shuts down anyway.

Major metropolitan teams have no issue finding people to come to day games. People work all kinds of hours. Let the ones who work nights come to weekday games.

As the season goes on you'll see some day / night doubleheaders.

Also day games are a good excuse to get out of the office and entertain clients with the company's season tickets.

Exactly. There's a reason most of the weekday day-games (outside of the Cubs on Friday) are played on Wed and Thursday

Yeah for TV commercials. That is not the base demographic that shows up for baseball games on a weekday afternoon.

I'm 25-years-old and I have plenty of friends in the same 23-28 age range that go to multiple day games a year, including me (6-7).

Gotta fit 162 games in somehow.

Plus skipping work to day drink and get a dog or two at the ballpark is an American right.

I don't' believe there's any verbiage in their contracts that state if a minimum number of fans aren't present then they get the day off.

See Baltimore 2015.

they dont play as many weekday early games as they used to play.

they also dont do double headers(unless weather caused), the players were pussies, standing and sitting for 3 hours was a fricking grind. It was brutal on them.

Pretty sure the double header thing was to get 81 unique days of revenue vs 81 games in like 75 unique days.

I think they should cut the season by about 8 games and do a double header every other Saturday so the World Series doesn't end in December.

Yes but all you teams are in highly populated areas. It's not an 8-5 world any more. There are still plenty of people that could go to a daytime game. I mean just look at wrigley over the years. Almost always a packed house during the day.

There were probably 5,000 people at GABP today

Cincinnati loves the business day special though. Mainly Wednesdays.

You're reaching, plenty of business use afternoon baseball as a business expense and bring clients, plenty of kids skip, plenty of people in larger cities work night jobs and can attend. attendance for these games may be lower than a weekend game but it isn't 15-20 lower because only old white men attend.

Well the Reds suck and have Aton of bandwagon fans. The opponent also makes a difference in attendance. Day or night.

How does this make sense from an attendance standpoint?

people come from great distances. They stay for a series.

I know people who would take off work after lunch to go to a game in the city.

Yes the Cincinnati Reds are widely known for their bandwagon fans who are considered some of the worst in baseball. The city has a terrible history of success and support for their team
