re: Who would you rather build your team around: Shaq or Lebron?

In today's NBA, LeBron without question. In any other era, Shaq. It's a whole lot harder to be a dominant center with today's zone rules and complex helping / collapsing on the post. Shaq would still be great, but I highly doubt he'd be putting 30 ppg if he played now. This era is made for slashing perimeter players.

LeBron
As much as I enjoyed watching Shaq, he had to have a All Star caliber guard to make the finals. LeBron has made it twice with the Cavs putting him and 4 scrubs on the court

I'd go with Lebron, probably. Shaq always needed a closer. Shaq was without a doubt the most unstoppable force, but that isn't enough.

I have always said if aliens came down to Earth, and they challenged us to a game for the planet, and I got first pick of any player in their primes, I am taking Shaq over anyone.

Lebrons best 10 year span is probably something like 28/7/7 at 50%+ shooting as well...

mid 90s-mid 00s? shaq
today? lebron probably
it's a different game today. however, when discussing posting up today i even say that there is one guy who could make it efficient and that's shaq
lebron's peak (2 years ago) was mind-numblingly good.

Shaq played during an era wherein players were significantly less skilled and didn't have proper nutritional habits, and the league was full of small, skinny white guys. He never had to face the likes of DeAndre Jordan.
So LBJ easily.

Shaq was the most dominant player I have seen in his prime, however I think Lebron's prime will last longer, so Lebron.
Couldnt put it any better

Tough to compare stats for a C vs whatever hybrid position lebron plays.
just know that lebron did shoot a shaq-esque 56.5% from the field for 2 years in a row at his peak.

When will that start?

It depends on who you put around either one.. No wat Shaq takes this Cavs team to the Finals... So advantadge Bron there....... BUT Shaq would dominate today in his prime, but needs anoter player [shooter] to win.... Hell I would take Magic over Bron in this case.............

he's exiting it now, so...years ago?
his absolute peak was his last 2 years in miami
09 probably was the start of his "peak" with 12/13 being his absolute peak and now he's exiting. i'd imagine we have 3-5 more years of his peak
