Linebacker at Bama named Victor Ellis. Came from the area of town where I grew up.
I wore #9 in football because of him.
He died of a rare form of cancer back when I was in high school. Really hit me hard for a person I never even met. Hard to see an idol lose his life at such a young age.

My idol was Earl Campbell. Had his posters all over my walls as a kid. But when Chris Jackson was at LSU, there was no way I would miss watching him play. He was the most incredible player I have ever seen.

Growing up I was all about Brett Favre. He'll always be my favorite athlete.

Roberto Clemente
Later on Cal Ripken Jr.
And I'm not even a big baseball fan anymore.

No I didn't get involved with NYC until I started seeing Ms. DS who is from the area some years ago. Now we spend enough time up there than I kind of follow all the teams by default but the Isles are the only NYC area team I am a true "fan" of.

Drew Brees.
I was not the biggest sports fan when I was young, I only really watched Saints/LSU games and that was it. Deuce was my favorite athlete for awhile, but once Brees showed up to New Orleans man that's when everything changed. I became more interested in the sport of football itself(played it in HS), loved watching him play, all the things off the field, etc.
