Who are the Sleeping Giants of CFB?

Thread on the rant got me thinking but it was about LSU basketball.
As much as I hate to admit it, I think Texas A&M is the closest to becoming a consistent powerhouse. All they need is the right coach.
Others that I see potential with the right coach:
-North and South Carolina
-Ole Miss- would hate this one also but I see the potential.
-Virginia, Maryland and Illinois.
Thought about schools like Minnesota, Cal, Arkansas and the Arizona schools.
I didn't consider teams that weren't in a Power 5 conference like a Central Florida.
I'm talking programs that could become legit NC contenders most years. All it would take is the right coach to see the potential and take advantage of it like Saban to LSU or Spurrier to Florida.

Georgia.
They are young, next year or 2 they should be really really good

Would say Kentucky with the talent they've been getting, but still yet to be seen. I like the coaching in Vanderbilt too, but they still have ways to go recruiting-wise.

Georgia and Texas really have no excuse to not be perennial top 10 teams.

I couldn't figure out if they would be in this category since they have consistently been really good but you are right. They should have won a couple titles with Richt

They are in the toughest division in football and are at best the #2 program in their state. I think they are a team that can be consistently good but they aren't really a sleeping giant. I actually think Texas is the better choice. That's a team set up to be top 10 every year with the right type of leadership. I think Herman will make them a contender.

Yeah it's strange thinking of them as not a contender every year but they really are the two biggest.

UCLA should be much better than they have been.
Great school, great location, great weather, hot girls, and fertile recruiting ground.

UGA SHOULD be a powerhouse.

Based on schools that have never really realized their potential, or at least not lately-
Ucla
Texas A&M
Pitt
Penn st
Syracuse

Never happen. On paper it looks good. Culture isn't there to win at all costs...they get soft players and have for years fancied themselves as a gentlemen's school.
That's not gonna win shite in the cutthroat mercenary world of CFB. Virginia likes lacrosse titles - and their academics...they have never been willing to get mucky and dirty like the top schools.
You have to make a serious commitment to admitting players who have no business being in college, play around with the rules and then basically admit...you don't care.
I think Virginia cares about being a real University and not just a football factory. And that's not a winning formula for today's game.

If Kirby Smart keeps up his recruiting, he will win a national title or two at UGA. So them I guess.

They're about to get hammered by the NCAA.

I went with A&M because they have every resource they need but a great head coach. I can see them being great even if Texas is also especially being in different conferences.

Nebraska maybe? Notre Dame, kinda? Texas, for sure.
