I agree with this. Also, TCU lost on the road by 3 to BU, not really the same as losing at home to an unranked team.

I see the logic in your perspective, but I think the head-to-head matchup makes this a no brainer for the committee.

Also, you may be overstating the case re: the West Virginia-Baylor game. West Virginia was playing very well at the time. The Baylor win came during a 4-game win streak and their best stretch of the season. That stretch ended against TCU, but only by a single point (TCU scored 10 4th quarter points in a comeback win) .

IMO a win at home by 3 points doesn't necessesarily mean that you're better than the team you beat. Had they beat TCU by a TD, I could concede that Baylor was indeed better than TCU. I don't really have a dog in the fight, I just think TCU is the better team and would make the playoff more interesting.

My Final 4 are Alabama, Oregon, Baylor, and Ohio State

I get it, for sure. I have no real preference, either, and the fact is that both probably deserve a spot.

But this argument is good because we're arguing over #4 vs. #5. In 2003 we were arguing over #2 vs. #3.

I liked the way Ohio State was playing, but with JT Barrett hurt I think they should probably be removed from the discussion. And in all likelihood, they will lose to Wisconsin now.

Yea, I really don't see how Ohio St. beats Wisconsin now. That should sort itself out. I think FSU will struggle with GaTech, too.

So what if Ohio State beats Wisconsin? Shouldnt that make Ohio State even more deserving of the final spot? That would be pretty darn impressive if you ask me.

That is the thing, the Wisconsin game will sort everything out IMO. If we lose we are out, and if we win we are obviously able to at least compete with our 3rd string QB.

Even if they do win, I do not think they will be one of the best four teams out there with Cardale Jones as their starting QB. I don't think they can compete in the playoffs with him. Sorry for your bad luck.

Except for the fact that they beat TCU at home by only 3 points, while losing to an inferior team, also at home.

So a loss doesn't count if it was a close loss ?

Serious question, why does that matter?

I think it's self-evident.

The non-conference schedule and the loss to West Virginia trumps the win over TCU at home by 3.

TCU played an 8-4 Minnesota team. That's it. That's the nonconference schedule. I don't think that and Baylor's loss to WVU should trump a head to head win.

I sadly see your point. I don't like it, since OSU would have 15 practices before the Semi (and I assume like 10 more before the championship game if they made it), but it's hard to see a committee taking this team seriously with our 3rd string QB.

OSU needs to win IMO by 13+ and then they are in. That will show even with this new QB, they are able to beat top 10 quality competition convincingly

Minnesota went 8-4 in the Big Ten, is ranked and beat a ranked Nebraska team. Buffalo went 5-6 in the MAC and lost to Army. There is no comparison.

Why not just answer the question?

I guess giving up 44 to Auburn makes Alabama a bit suspect too.

Texas Tech =/= Auburn; Baylor =/= Alabama

And TCU giving up 30 to Kansas? Didn't Baylor blow out Kansas? Didn't Kansas struggle against Southeast Missouri?

Look, I think TCU is a worthy team, but head-to-head has to mean something. People on here have been so quick to dismiss it.

I know this was not made by anyone here, but the graphic at the beginning is all that is wrong with pre-season polls.

OU was ranked 4 when TCU beat them, and 15 when Baylor crushed them. But what is OU? Okie St. was 15 when TCU beat them, but they are awful

The OSU over Michigan should not be on there as a Signature win. Navy, Maryland, Ill. are at least all going bowling
