Not ready to crown him yet. Needs another ring and a few more years. His accuracy and lack of INTs separate him from his statistical peers, but until he gets to AT LEAST one more Super Bowl they're just numbers.

You couldn't be more wrong about this.
Favre is one of the biggest assholes in NFL history.

If he had a great personality and was well respected among those in the know, then there would have been a mad scramble by the television networks to have him working for them. There wasn't one.

Nobody would have wanted to work with Brett Favre in a studio.
Also, nobody wanted him on their coaching staff either.

I am a huge Packer fan. He needs another couple of rings. That is never all in the QBs control though. I enjoy him a lot more than Favre though.

It's a lot like Rob Gronkowski. His best has been far and away better than anyone else's best. The question is can he keep it going. He has a very concerning concussion history.

Terrell Davis played his way into the conversation and had the rings. And then it was over and some people unfairly treat him like he's a footnote.

Okay. QBs whose level he hasn't reached yet:

Montana
Brady
Unitas
Marino
Peyton Manning
Elway
Favre
Graham

QBs I think are comparable until he has more years and/or more rings:

Staubach
Young
Aikman
Tarkenton
Kelly
Fouts
Brees
Dawson
Jurgensen
Starr
Layne
Baugh
Van Brocklin
Moon
Bradshaw

So if you put him somewhere in the middle of the 2nd tier, the OP is about right. However, he definitely has the time and ability to play his way right into the middle of tier 1

I think he's the best ever at playing the position, but he isn't top 5 in the rankings. Does that make sense?

The last 3 years he has played at a level no one else has ever come close to, but I don't think he stacks up as the best QB or even close really just because he hasn't won enough (yet).

Rodgers has been the standard of QB play the last 4 years.

Unless a career ending injury, then just by projection he will be top-5 all time at least.

Accuracy
Quick release
Movement within pocket

Those are all the best in the game today.

The thing about the stats is that the rules are heavily weighted in favor of quarterbacks and receivers, and that Rodgers is only one of four active QBs shattering every record in the book.

But on the other side, you could also argue that he only has one ring because his peers are arguably three of ten the greatest QBs in NFL history.

And yes, he'll never have Starr's championships, but in Rodgers' defense, the Packers were built on two HOF-caliber running backs and one of the best defenses ever. And who were Starr's quality NFL contemporaries? Don Meredith? Y.A. Tittle at the end of his career? Sonny Jurgensen's teams were garbage until Lombardi took over the Redskins. John Brodie's teams weren't very good either. Fran Tarkenton's Vikings were still an expansion team at Starr's peak.

So anyway, the layers are too complex to say anything with absolute certainty.
