Devine came from the Packers. He didn’t leave to take the Packer Job.

The last coach that truly left Notre Dame on his own was Devine because they wanted fire him year before and he had enough of it

Wrong
They were on probation because of the jobs from Dallas thing and bringing in too many recruits on visits

Broyles fired him using the Jessie Helms cover.

Notre Dame has an overinflated sense of itself. They don’t think they should have to pay a coach fair market value. In their demented minds, a coach should just come and work for Notre Dame for peanuts. When coaches at top schools are making $5-$12 million per year, Notre Dame was paying Kelly $2.7 million

ND is a private university so they don’t have to disclose the money he’s getting. Most have estimated him to be around 8-9 million on his latest extension

No he came from the Packers to coach Notre Dame. Then he left to pitch for the Cleveland Indians where he drank Jobu’s rum. This, and the fact that he was a prick to Rudy, caused Jobu to hit him in the head with a bat.

Yeah but because of that, Rudy was able to help Frodo bring the One Ring to Mordor, so it all worked out in the end.

I don't know. Spurrier quit in the middle of a worthless season and people still give him grief.

Don’t make the kids commit in December. They did this to themselves.

I laugh at Kelly claiming he's the winningest coach at Notre Dame, because he's counting the 21 games vacated by the NCAA for the academic fraud he condoned in 2012-2013. He's really 92-39 instead of 106. He also forgets to mention he's ND's losingest coach ever too with his 39 losses.

(Kelly eliminated the football team's participation in ND's Academic Center for Student Athletes to consolidate their time in the Gug, which allowed the cheating to occur. Kelly later denied any responsibility for the cheating scandal, even though it was his decision to work outside the mechanism ND had always used to ensure players kept up academically and he knew it was an ongoing problem.)

Between killing a student in 2010, facilitating and covering up the academic fraud in 2012-2013 and going 4-8 in 2016, LSU will be able to find cause if they really want to over the next decade. Kelly is an 8-4 coach for his entire career because he is too arrogant to be successful. For every 12-0 season he will have a 4-8 year to go with it, but your expectations shouldn't be more than 8-4 every year.

Get ready for lazy recruiting, no QB development, boneheaded coaching decisions and being unprepared when it counts. For Brian Kelly, this usually happens during night games, on the road in November. Go watch the last 3 games of 2017 for a preview, top 10 ND gets whipped by Miami, struggled with Navy the next week, then lost to Stanford 2 weeks later because the team's confidence was broken because they were totally unprepared for the big stage.

If you don't want to ruin your optimism, you should avoid the first quarter of 2012 championship game vs Alabama. Brian Kelly spent more time prepping for his interview with the Philadelphia Eagles than on game prep for the Championship. He acknowledged the team spent a total of 30 minutes of full contact practice in the 6 weeks prior to the game.

That topic came up at the press conference. It was someone named Berry over 100 years ago.

10 years....$100 million with 90% of it guaranteed....which is probably a 33-50% pay raise for him.

It wasn't JUST LSU calling. It wasn't the SEC. It wasn't the recruiting differences ... or the competition... or the damn weather.

The #1 reason he left - the contract LSU put in front of him... AND the opportunity to come here and coach with and against the best. The $100 mill PLUS the opportunity to play for Championships.
