I guess we should expect him to score quickly and lose the game?

How many times do you have to watch it happen before you realize oh, wow maybe we SHOULD keep the ball in our offenses hand.

Don't basketball teams down 1 or 2 hold for the last shot instead of scoring with 20 seconds left?

Why is it Ok in basketball and stupid in football?
They miss those shots and lose all the time yet it's still the right call.

Just because it isn't a 100% guarantee, you are choosing the option that gives you the BEST CHANCE at winning and scoring quickly and expecting your sub-par tired defense to pull out a stop on an offense that's going from 3 downs per 10 yards to 4 is just bad math.

If a FG Wins the game for you, I'm more on board with this idea. But down by 3 or more under 2 mins you score when you can score, especially when it puts u up 4

Really?

Because a team passing up a scoring opportunity to run the clock down seems the same despite whether you put it into a hoop or cross a goal line.

Yeah I think you are right, there's very few teams that can score a TD in under 2 minutes, I mean it is the 1930's after all.

Look, no one agrees with you. I can see a case for what you are saying in some games, but last night is definitely not an example.

Let's say the RB falls down at the 1 foot line. Now Florida State takes a timeout and there is the same amount of time on the clock and FSU has 1 TO left. What then? Kneel it again? It doesn't make sense to risk a bad snap or penalty just to burn one FSU TO and no clock, right? How long do you do this?

If you are behind in basketball you are moving the ball around looking for a last shot and running time off the clock, but you still don't give up an easy layup if you have it.

It looks like there will be no agreement on this matter. We each have our own opinions. Different coaches have different strategies as well.

I would think it's a safe bet to say Saban now looks back and rethinks why he didn't go ahead and attempt that field goal inside the 20 instead of going for it on 4th down.

Absolutely. You can't tell your players to give a half arse effort to set up yourself for something that isn't so easy to come by, especially against that defense
