Now ULL is at the point where a move to CUSA no longer makes sense and they are content to sit back and see what shakes out in conference re-alignment over the next few years.
Let me translate for those of you that don't speak Cajun: "CUSA? What a joke? Everybody knows the best thing in Louisiana is the block between St.Mary & University and Johnston and Pinhook. We got dat Big 12 begging us to join. You gonna see, bruh."

I don't know what happened
UL-L had soooo much going for just a couple of years ago in regards to athletics - good crowds, winning programs, community support and an administration desperate to find a way to make it work.
I think some people are completely turned off with the abuse of the name situation. The lack of an outright conference championship in football hurts...also, being in the Sunbelt hurts. No one wants to call up a team from that conference.
A venture as an independent in football may be what it takes...but then where do your other sports go?

LOL
Tulane still has far more C-USA titles and NCAA appearances than USM. Prior to Katrina, Tulane was #3 in the league; even still, it's in the top 1/2.
High research school, far more resources...not even close as candidates for the AAC.
Tulane also has more SEC football titles than MSU.

The affliction sponsorship is bringing ull to new heights. look at the new athletic facility... It wont be long until the big 12 or sec comes calling.

Not what I said at all
ULL is one of the schools trying to keep the Sun Belt together. Moving to CUSA is a step up but ULL admin would have to think hard about it. CUSA is not that big a step up to make it a no brainer. The politics of dumping the Sun Belt are bad, the politics of CUSA shitting on ULL are bad too.
Nobody said anything about the Big 12
FTR I went to LSU, I use the Cajuns logo because I am from Lafayette and it makes it easy to find my posts when I am scanning replies on a thread

A few years ago the athletic administration tried playing hardball with several schools in and around the state. The arrogance of a fool came back to bite them in the arse when conference realignment started to accelerate. All of a sudden, they found themselves
needing help from the same people they were "trying to separate themselves from". To compound the problem, their admin has taken a very poor approach to scheduling. You can sell winning to dumbass naive fans. Admins from these other schools are smarter than the Cajun fan base.

ULL admin, Athletic Dept and their fans are their own worst enemy

Then you aren't acquainted with a truly delusional strain of Cajun fan who sincerely believe the Big 12 is the next step for the Cajuns.

No doubt. Everyday I find a new level of football stupidity. However, I haven't read a post saying we will move up to the NFC South.....but I do vaguely remember a thread or post about beating an NFL team.

disagree... anytime you get a chance to move "up" you take it... most associate the Sun Belt with SEC football rent-a-wins and CUSA as a bit more competitive, therefore CUSA is "up"
ULL isn't dumb though. "Louisiana" has a better shot to get into a big conference than "ULL" or "Louisiana-Lafayette"

It might if anyone in La beyond ULL fans and alumni accepted Louisiana as their name.
Their message board fans are already at Hudspeth's throat, despite him being the only coach in their history to grace a major college bowl game ( much less 4 bowls and 4 wins) and this 4 being the only 4 years he's coached them.
Hard to figure them out.

My dad went to SLI, my cousins USL. None of them ever refer to it as Louisiana, they actually think it's stupid. They still say USL or ULL.
Nobody outside of SW Louisiana even cares about ULaLa, certainly not the SEC or Big XII.
