Do y'all's tips play 7600? And you are a capable golfer to play from most tips, but if you think these hackers you speak of play from 7600 or even around 7000 and it wouldn't take them longer than from the up tees, you're mistaken. It's a simple fact, more strokes = more time.

My buddy and I both usually shoot in the 90's and if noone is ahead if us we can get 18 holes in at around 2:30, if not quicker

if there is a golfer that shoots 100, and decides to play 500yds longer then normal, they most likely going shoot 120. No matter how fast you play more strokes is going to take more time

We aren't talking about quick players though. We are talking about hackers that y'all are complaining about.

and playing the forward tees for slow asses doesn't mean they will play faster. I see some 6-10 HC players the play so damn slow they hold up everyone. I bet I could shoot 100 and play faster than them.

Then why does Ben Crane keep his card while being the slowest player on tour? He takes roughly the same number of strokes over the course of 4 days and does it a lot slower. If you are looking for your ball every hole it's a different story than not being long enough

I agree with that, but move that same group back to the tips and its going to take even longer.

I'm with Ryno on this one. More strokes does not always mean more time. Guan beat a lot of people at the masters and was much slower than many of them

What does that have to do with a slow play argument for regular joes?

You really think length adds no time for a slow player? If you are looking for your ball after every shot and you have to take more shots (on the longer tees), then you will take more time. Not to mention the tips usually have more trouble come into play by design to test skilled players

The Masters tournament has nothing to do with this argument.

So we're only talking slow players playing farther back? I'm talking about anyone. I bet if you let me play the 7600 yard tees at Atchafalaya and then the 6700 yard tees, my time will not vary that much if I hit the ball about the same. Why? Because I don't hit a ton of greens from 6700, so moving back won't be taking that out of my game. I'm chipping to get on in 3 on most holes anyway. That's why I don't believe you can make a blanket statement that distance adds time

If I play at 6700 yds where I hit sandwedge into every green on the course, I will complete my round faster then playing 7600 and hitting 3 wood into every par 4. because the chance of hitting more accurate shots with my wedges then 3wood.

I'm thinking of going back to an older model driver with a smaller head. I think I might find it easier to hit straight than these bigger 460cc heads. Distance isn't really the issue for me, just keeping it in play when I'm grinding. Anyone have any suggestions? Something around 400cc or less in the 7.5-8.5 range. I'm looking at a couple of Taylormade 510TP or Titleist 983K sticks right now.

What is the lowest you could get a 3 wood down?

I'm thinking about bringing out my old 905s and seeing how well it still hits

Why don't you get a 13 degree 3 wiggle and add a wedge?
