I have never attempted to play that distance. Longest I have played was Orange County National crooked cat from 7300 and change. Its is no fun to play 255yd par 3's

Its also a huge pace of play issue, less then 1% of am golfers should play anything over 7000

I can see that, but it also depends what pace you play at. I am terrible compared to most of you but I doubt you find that I slow you down

This new guy's got a mouth on him. Guess we will see if he can back it up at Atchafalaya...if we even let him come

Pace of play has nothing to do with teh length of courses. I see the slowest a-holes in the world playing the white tees. lack of awareness/concern of basic "ready golf" is the main issue.

1. lazy asses that won't get out of their cart and walk 20 feet over to their ball while their buddy is hitting.

2. idiots who do 4 laps around the green looking at their putt for bogey from every imaginable angle.

3. waiting to hit because someone else is "away" yet that person is still fumbling around the cart and not even picked a club yet.

I want to choke people sometimes

I'm drinking beer and playing eagle. I want to enjoy my day. I need to save my anger for the LSU game. You pretty much use every club in your bag from eagle anyway.

Those are major factors but to say that length has nothing to do with pace of play is pretty wrong. It exacerbates those problems.

Those slow players playing from longer than they should makes them exponentially slower.

I'm a pretty quick player and I know I'd play slower from 7600 yards for the simple fact that more strokes = more time.

not really . if you play ready golf and don't have a 1 minute pre-shot routine and 5 practice swings. I play the same pace no matter if from tips or blues. we had a threesome yesterday and it was Cart path only in the rain and we finished in 2 hrs 45 minutes.

It's funny though, but I've played with better players who ask me to speed it up ( I play quick) who act like they're putting in the US Open and look at their putts from all angles, walk up to greens to check them out before chipping, etc. more strokes doesn't always mean more time.

If it is COP then that is a different story

I play pretty quick, but I do take a little more time than most on the greens.

I play a lot of golf and I see no correlation between slow players and the tees they play. slow asses play slow no matter what. we finished on friday with a 7-some behind a 3 some who had their heads so far up their assess it wasn't funny. we were still waiting on every hole. 3 holding up 7. and htey were playing the white tees
