The NBA widened the lane because of Wilt.

Required Players release the ball before crossing free throw line( prevent Wilt from finger rolling from line)

Wilt caused NBA to ban basket interference ( offensive goaltending).

Some inbounding rules were changed due to Wilt as well( 1 in particular inbounding the ball over the back board).

This change was funny because breaking the plane didn't even help Wilt. He was still terrible doing this and looked ridiculous.

And ? Shows the paranoia/ fear Wilt evoked .

I don't remember a rule change for Shaq? Hack a Shaq is a strategy & not a rule. I don't think the NBA bothered until Shaq retired.

I gave you at least 4 rule changes due to Wilt.

Barkley said Shaq would have been the best if he had a mean streak. Said Shaq was far too nice.

O kicked his arse in the finals. I'd rather have O, Chamberlin, or a pre-1980 Kareem rather than Shaq any day of the week.

Moses was great but he didn't have the size to take on Shaq with similar styles of play.

Too bad we never had a young and healthy Sabonis to take on Shaq. would've been a great matchup.

Bill Russell is the GOAT easily. How is this even being debated?

Chamberlain is the most dominant C of all time. Russell has more rings and was a great player.

No, it is 100% Wilt the stilt. He had a season averaging 44 pets with 24 boards. Doesn't get any more dominant.

Anyone who doesn't know this doesn't know the history of basketball. So the answer to your original question is HELL NO!

The most dominant center in NBA history is easily Wilt Chamberlain. No one else is even close. Russell had much better team mates and has more rings but Wilt was a better, more dominant presence under the basket.

Some people seem to be arguing for the best while others are debating 'dominant' (which is a subjective adjective).

I never watched Wilt play but agree he's probably the most 'dominant'. Shaq is the most dominant that I've ever watched, going back to the 80s.

I also read somewhere that there were many more possessions per game in the Wilt & Russell era, which is the reason they averaged so many points and rebounds per game. Therefore, it's probably not reasonable to compare stats between eras.

Shaq during the Lakers 3-peat was nearly unstoppable. Many refs even admitted that he was impossible to referee because he was so much bigger/stronger than everyone else. He would make that little spin move and a defender would go flying backwards even though it was only a small amount of contact.

Yes Wilt averaged 50 pts and 26 boards one season.

Did you see them play? head to head, Russell stopped Wilt at the rim with the game on the line. Yes, Russell's team was much better.

I saw it happen. Russell > Wilt.

Wilt wasn't exactly playing against the same level of competition either. Wasn't the average center like 6'8".

Chamberlain brutalized Russell head to head . Russell won't even deny that.
