From his rookie season through the LA years was there ever a more dominant center?

We are making fun of Falcon fans this morning for blowing and choking away a 25 point lead in the Super Bowl and you're asking this question?

To answer your question... yes he was

The best I've seen, Shaq and Lew Alcindor. Shaq had the brawn, Alcindor the finesse.

I'm not going for the obvious Russell and his 11 rings. I'll say Jabbar. 20 years in the league, 10 NBA finals, 6 Championships, 6 MVPs, 19X All-star and too many other awards to name. Also played a historic role in beating the Lakers team that had the longest streak in NBA history (with Wilt). We will never see monsters battle like that again..

Shaq had one move, push you out of the way and dunk. He was useless more than 2 feet from the basket.

Kareem had a lot more range as a player, but obviously Shaq was the biggest and strongest.

Bill Russell is the GOAT easily. How is this even being debated?

Wilt and Kareem would be the other ones in consideration.

You hit the nail on the head. Just my opinion, the three point shot has made the days of some of the great inside battles of the big men obsolete.. I miss that sometimes.

Just from looking at how much of a force Cousins is right now, imagine some of the greats playing in this era. Shaq would average 40ppg.

No, it is 100% Wilt the stilt. He had a season averaging 44 pets with 24 boards. Doesn't get any more dominant.

He's in the argument for sure. Most physically imposing center to play the game but was a terrible shooter. I guess it all depends on what you want from your big Man. For me, I'd take Shaq over anyone who's ever played the game at C. I've got forwards and guards to make shots. He was unstoppable when backing defenders down and you better know what your doing with the ball if you drove the paint with his big arse waiting on you at the rim.

Shaq was very unique, but Wilt was the most imposing. He was 7'2, ripped and a phenominal athlete. Plus when he came in the league, his size was just abnormal. He was going up against guys 6-8 inches shorter every night. I once read a commentator say that watching Wilt play when he first came into the league was like an 8 foot David Robinson. He was that much bigger than everybody else.

When Shaq came, there were plenty of 7 footers and guys just as strong. He was very talented and blessed with great coordination. But few people were really scared of him. The fact that 6'4 Barkley went after him should show that.

Btw, fun fact, no other hall of fame player has ever played for more than 4 teams. Shaq played for 6..

Wilt averaged 30 points and 23 rebounds for his career. He led the league in points and rebounds five times. In 1962 he averaged 50 points and 25 rebounds. It doesn't get more dominant than that.
