He said/she said crap. Face it La Tech screwed aroung too long. No bowl is sitting on its hands waiting for a non-BCS school to commit.

Even if the bowl gave them a guarantee, the AD is still stupid for not getting it in writing.

This sucks if true. Did the Liberty Bowl ever issue a statement about what happened?

Still his own fault, you don't put off bowl bids.

There has been some information released.

LINK

quote:

“The Liberty Bowl executive director (Steve Ehrhart) said Saturday evening that he had given Bruce Van De Velde a guarantee that LT would receive an invite,” Hurd told The Times in an email while in New York. . . .

Van De Velde admitted Tech originally had a written agreement that stated the Liberty Bowl would select the Bulldogs if Iowa State was not available.

“On Saturday, when Missy Setters told me, ‘We needed to know and we needed to know now,’ I said, ‘I have to call the Liberty Bowl now, and I’ve got to tell them I’ve got to have a commitment now, or I’m going to go to the I-Bowl.’ “That’s when the Liberty Bowl said to me, ‘Oh no, we’re going to take you regardless.’ And then, on Sunday, they changed.”

So basically, it seems like Tech's AD trusted the word of people on the committee when they had something different in writing.

Only one reason to do that.

See first post in thread.

So the WAC Commissioner, who vehemently denied that the game against A&M was postponed in order to increase ticket sales (same spin as the La. Tech AD) is taking La. Tech's side? I'm shocked.

First Iowa State ruins LSU's national championship by beating Oklahoma state, then we ruin LA Tech's national championship by taking their bowl : (

That AD should be fired for not getting that in writing. The only thing he has in writing is that they would take LT if ISU wasn't available.

I don't think he should be fired, but you are right that he should have got it in writing.

The LB rep should be fired for lying.
