Park ball levels get trounced bc all the elite kids that's would have been playing for the all star teams are playing for one of the many daddy coached USSA teams instead of the Rec teams .

That is a generalization. I find a good amount of people leave the park because of the drama with rec coaches and lack of concern for the kid's safety when it comes to pitching. Rec coaches are more likely to cheat and over pitch kids just to get the win.

If your travel team is not coached by a dad who doesn't have college or minor league experience find one that does or join an Academy. You will get far better results than daddy ball rec coaches.

He's right about the rec talent pool. All the good players (most of whom have good coaches as dad) are on travel teams. Easy concept to understand.

It's summer.......let the kids have vacations and stop ruining their love for the game and their arms.

All you need to have are coaches with baseball IQ and coaching experience (high school is fine). As far as cheating, well I've seen the college/instructional league PRO guys cheat too, it's not limited to rec. leagues. I think most rec. teams only "cheat" due to lack of knowledge about the rules, although having only one pitcher makes it much more enticing.

There is still talent in the rec leagues. The all star teams just don't get to practice as much together and usually end up playing a different position when they get to the all star tournaments.

All part of the reason kids don't play rec. any longer. Kids should learn to play wherever they are valuable, that goes for rec. or weekend ball.

Thats BS. There has always been a pitch rule on Cal Ripken and Babe Ruth among others. Most goos coaches don't throw their aces but a couple of games till the playoffs for rec ball. Lakeshore Baseball out of New Orleans dominated Babe Ruth and Cal Ripken for years until teams like Lakeview formed their own travel teams and then other parks followed suit around 2008.

When did a Slowpitch Softball Association begin sanctioning baseball?

This....even the pros and scouts say it's not necessary to play all those games.

And no I'm not bitter, and will not get in a pissing contest about how good my kid is. I'll just say that he's 7yo and is an advanced hitter and better than most kids that are already playing travel ball for his age....basically, he works his arse off at home in the cage. We've been approached several times already and I say no politely....I will not sacrifice my family's summer and our discretionary income when I don't believe it's needed. If my kid is good enough , then he's good enough.

I want him to love the game one day past 13-14 yo and appreciate the life lessons baseball can give. As long as HE keeps loving the game wanting to get better then he will be fine. There is nothing that proves USSSA and travel ball makes kids better, hard work at home and natural ability is the main thing IMO....I'm stubborn

That's true, but a rec league all star team is made up of a bunch of SS's from the rec league

Based on what evidence? The greatest players of all time played 20 games a summer likely....name me one pro player that attributes success to playing "competition" as a kid?? These kids develop mostly when they get to HS, and then travel ball is over....go ahead and rationalize blowing your money and time if you want, I see kids all the time for good HS programs that played very little if any travel ball.

You could go to any poor town in Cuba and Nicaragua and grab 9 nine kids from the sand lot who never played with shoes much less cleats and gloves mostly made of duct tape and bring them here to America and they'll embarrass any tournament team here. Fact

They are 9 year olds playing a game, to me the only pathetic thing is the fact that adults get so emotional because their little sweetheart didn't get a trophy.

Really, it's 9 year olds. Let them have fun. They win, great, they lose, oh well. They get a trophy, awesome. They don't, who cares.

More to life than worrying about 9 year olds getting trophies.

USSSA started as a slow pitch organization. I did not know they also started baseball.

United States Slowpitch Softball Association is USSSA

Win or lose without playing a game? What's that teaching?

Lesson: Life isn't always fair. Things happen that you can't always control. Control the things you can and don't let the things out of your control upset you. Move on.

Also, I find it pathetic that adults really care that much about which 9 year old team is declared a winner.

Shouldn't be all about winning and losing at that age. The only ones that REALLY care about the trophies are the parents.
