Here me out guys. All the Power 5 teams join one conference. These teams are split into 5 Leagues based on geography and history. About two-thirds of games will be played against teams within your league. Teams from different leagues can agree to play eachother. The Leagues can act independently for things like conference championship games

League 1
Alabama
Auburn
Arkansas
LSU
Florida
Kentucky
Ole Miss
Mississippi State
Georgia
Tennessee
Vanderbilt
South Carolina

League 2
Clemson
Miami
Florida State
Louisville
Boston College
Maryland
Duke
UNC
NC State
Virginia
Virginia Tech
Pitt

League 3

Texas
Texas A&M
Missouri
Nebraska
Colorado
Kansas
Kansas State
Texas Tech
Baylor
TCU
Iowa State
Houston

League 4
Ohio State
Michigan
Michigan State
Wisconsin
Illinois
Indiana
Iowa
Purdue
Penn State
Northwestern
Notre Dame

League 5
Southern Cal
UCLA
Cal
Stanford
Arizona State
Arizona
Utah
Oregon
Oregon State
Washington
Washington State

I know this is a new and crazy idea but it looks perfect to me

So keep the SEC, ACC, Big Ten, Big Eight/Big XII/SWC, and Pac 10?

Oregon will slowly fade into nothing if they go independent

They better pray the big ten sends them an invite. Washington too.

Sources tell @latimes that USC was the impetus behind this move to the Big Ten.

The symbol of West Coast football and sunny California. Good job Larry Scott.

Not really a big deal for football, but everything else will be pretty insane for USC and UCLA.

A two game west coast trip for all the current B1G members sounds like a damn good time.

Colorado back to Big 12? Lmao

If USC and UCLA leave for the Big 10 I guarantee there are at least formal meetings about what's left of the Big 12 and PAC to see about making their own conference.

No sir. Oregon will be fine because Nike outfits all of the elite college football programs. I believe Oregon is in the cat bird seat. They can write their ticket to wherever they want to go.

The biggest obstacle in such a move had long been UCLA leaving behind Cal because it meant breaking away from UC system, per sources. One Pac-12 source said they were "stunned" UCLA would make that move.

4 superconferences, it's kinds the only answer at this point. The SEC won't go for that though.

I’m telling ya…this isn’t done…Oregon, Stanford, Washington and ND will be coming. That will help USC and UCLA alleviate travel. There will be a North/Central/East/West division set up. I don’t see any other way…

What’s the point of even having conferences if you have two conferences with almost 35 teams?

This is the reason why football needs to break away and be its own entity.

It should be one conglomerate of 64 teams that sets schedules similar to the NFL.

Right, unless this is some step to break away from NCAA, which I'm not even sure is feasible. I really thought COVID would pop the college sports bubble and conferences would stop expanding (and maybe go in reverse). Instead, everything has gone into overdrive the last year with coaches' salaries, NIL, conference expansion, and TV.

How the frick is this gonna work with the non-revenue sports

B1G is in the process of negotiating a new media rights deal. It was said to be the 1st $1 billion plus deal per year. Now that number may rise substantially.
