What about the Bay Area schools?

Stanford has the largest endowment outside the Ivy league and bring a ton of academic prestige, they aren't getting left out.

no one gives a frick about academic prestige despite all the circle jerking the big 10 does.
This is about the television partners offering the most amount of money. Washington and oregon have fanbases that care so they have a shot.
Stanford is the Rice of this round of expansion

Someone will want Stanford and I guess Cal even though Cal is garbage

It would be very weird for USC and UCLA to be the only teams out west in the Big 10. it wouldn't be great logistically for them in terms of traveling costs, etc.
yeah some schools from the group of stanford, cal, washington, oregon are definitely getting invited.

Poor Washington State and Oregon State. Nobody will want them

How are USC and UCLA going to feel about daddy Ohio State not letting trannies and abortions run free

Maybe all of them, to form a third Far West division.

Liberalism and the Democratic party are losing ventures in the USA. Anyone with common sense can see this. Furthermore, the numbers of people who agree with transgenderism and abortions is greatly exaggerated by the corporate controlled media and that includes people in California.

You think ESPN impacted last realignment round, that's nothing on FOX's likely impact here.
-- Already has rights to at least half of next Big Ten deal.
-- Owns 61% of BTN and has been sitting in on meetings w/ other potential TV partners.
-- Based In LA and they love USC.

Two mega conferences forming around the SEC and Big10?

From a Cal-associated journalist:
1.) The Regents do have to approve this decision
2.) Cal has to create an outcome that manages the stadium debt and the ongoing need for revenue (both direct and the large indirect amounts) that come from Cal participating in big time college athletics
3.) If the Regents approve UCLA leaving for the B10, it is very hard to imagine it happening without Cal. If not, hard to imagine the Regents approving UCLA leaving.
4.) There is no middle ground here for Cal. A diminished P12 will starve it of the capital needed to pay off the Stadium, maintain an athletic presence beyond the sports that have evergreen funding (e.g. aquatics, rugby, crew), and fulfill Title IX
5.) The Regents will understand points 2 and 4 well and will act accordingly
6.) Perhaps more importantly, the B10, FOX, and ESPN are all about eyeballs and revenue. Why wouldn't they want the Bay Area? It's one of the six largest in the US. These are the same entities that decided to add Maryland and Rutgers to the B10 not long ago
It makes sense to me that any delay in announcement is coming from the Regents of the University of California examining the situation.

Cal is going with UCLA to the Big 10. This move is a big financial windfall for both of these schools who make a lot of money but who also spend a lot of money as well.

You're a fool if you think Phil Knight and Nike won't make sure Oregon is straight.
I honestly don’t know how Nike influences ESPN/Fox and the conferences
Oregon will likely land in a conference because they’re a good brand but my initial reply was them going independent which would be a disaster for them.

They better become best buds with Fresno St and San Jose St.

Oregon brings in a ton of revenue and is an AAU member.

I wonder if the big 10 is discussing neutral site locations for certain sports to limit the literal cross country travel
