If, for example Michigan left the Big Ten, they would still conduct the same amount of research.

I disagree here. There's a reason the BTAA is so powerful. The research sharing and partnerships is a extremely beneficial.

Yep. The research is funded by dollars and a ton of them. There's no conference that comes close. The PAC12 had 2/3 of the research money of the B1G and a lot of that just changed coffers. No other conference had even half.

BTAA is over $10 billion a year for research and it's split between the B1G members so yes, they do split it.

Doesn’t university of Chicago get a share?

Chicago isn't in the B1G any more.

They're in the AAU though.

Right. Because USC playing Utah, Colorado and Arizona was so much better than USC playing Michigan, Ohio State and Penn State. Not to mention them continuing to play UCLA and Notre Dame.

That isn't college football. As an Ole Miss fan would you want your conference schedule to be 9 Big 10 teams?

If we were in Europe, USC and UCLA fans would be protesting the hell out of all this like fans of teams going to the European soccer Super League were protesting that

Reality will set in when USC’s conference schedule is Wisconsin, Michigan, Indiana, Purdue, Rutgers, Iowa, Minnesota, Michigan State, and UCLA

Not a chance that Ohio State or Penn State isn’t on USC’s yearly schedule.

I’m just assuming that they go to a no divisions format…
