This thread got me thinking, that eventually it will happen. Seems like you see articles about female highschool footballers every now and then, and I think it is only a matter of time before the right one comes along and makes a stink about getting into the NFL. As far as I know, no rule prohibits it. I think a place kicker could make it through within the next 20 years, maybe.

Doubt it. The MLB has their eye on a girl knuckleballer from Japan. Apparently shes not half bad.

Jeez, looks like I need to learn up on my Japanese baseball. The only reason I even know about it is she came over here and they had some stories on her messing around with Timmy Wakefield.

It happens in high school and even occasionally college because the talent pool is so much more spread out. There's just no way once the talent pool narrows to the NFL, that there won't be hundreds of better kickers that are male than the best female.

Perhaps, but the more important thing to point out is that the only position it could ever happen at is kicker or punter.

There is just no way that a female could play any other position in the NFL even if they wanted to.

How bout we have a standout female in college first.
Before that happens, we gotta have one in high school.
In other words, it ain't happenin in the NFL or it will be a very long time.
Also, girls are pussies and can't play football.

The only way I could see it is one of those "females" that is barely female genetically or by scientist arbitrarily calling them a female. My guess someone so fricked at birth would have a life too rough to want to play foosball though.

No doubt... but once you narrow the talent down to the best 32 of each, even with some backups, I can't imagine a female beating out the men. Now you're not talking a girl who can kick the ball playing for a small high school, you're talking about her beating out the best college kickers for a job.

Well they would obviously have to outlaw tackling.

All of this is true. Except for maybe the very long time part. Their could be the Tiger Woods of place kicking coming up right now, that could make the scene. I think the problem is girls do not even try. I think all we are waiting for is some activists parents to try and groom a football girl.

and what happens when said female kicker gets a snap over her head and has to run for the ball, also punters and KOS are required to attempt to make a tackle.

I don't think you are going to see any women booming 50 yard fgs. which virtually every team in the NFL has a man that can do now.

My favorite random subplot of the preseason: when the Vikings watched Tarvaris Jackson and Sage Rosenfels practice for a few weeks, then sent Jared Allen, Ryan Longwell and Steve Hutchinson to Mississippi to beg Brett Favre to come back … and a devastated Jackson had to meet with the media and say diplomatic things like, "I felt I was the best prepared. I felt confident I was going to be the starter. But I understand the situation." This is reason No. 5,718 why women could never play professional football. If Jackson were female and Favre got injured in Thursday's Saints game, we'd have this exchange on the sideline:

--Brad Childress: "OK, T-Jack, just go out there and run the offense, we can win this."
--T-Jack (crying): "Oh, now you want me? Why don't you ask Brett to win it for you?!?!?!? Why don't you ask your little whore!!!!!!!????????"

the only positions a gal will ever have a CHANCE at are kicker, punter, and deep-snapper. No shot at anything else.

.... unless there's an ultra-athletic tranny out there
