Even as a Caps fan, I'm all about what I call NHL94 Pens unis.
On a side note, I thoroughly enjoyed watching opening night. Kicked back in my recliner and fell asleep to the Sharks & Kings. Sure is a beautiful thing to watch when you take in the sights and sounds of an NHL game.

I like the jersey's from last year. It reminds fans they are a Crosby era of Penguins and cannot hold a candle to the Black and Yellow Super Mario and Jagr era of Pens.

Vegas Gold sucks arse. Pittsburgh gold needs to be permanent again, which I hear it's coming very soon.

I know I'm being a homer but I think Ehrhoff-Letang will be a top D pairing in the league. I'm expecting a lot of both, as long as Letang stays medically okay.

Boy, are you gonna be disappointed. The Pens defense was really good last year, but almost all of that depth is gone and now they need Maata to perform at an elite level. Their blueline not looks like their forward lines: stars and scrubs. Great top line and then a huge drop off in talent. I'd much rather have three very good pairings than 1 awesome one and two bad ones.

The Pens D is going to be great. No worthless Orpik and Ehrhoff > Niskanen.
Pauly Mart with another great season, Maatta another strong year. Scuderi will be just fine on 3rd pair with Despres and/or Harrington.

Yet my opinion was couched in complimenting the D's blueline last year. I'm not the one blinded so much by my fandom that I can't evaluate a rival. That's you, not me.
The Pens had a terrific blueline last year, but now one third of it is gone, and another third of it is a huge injury risk. I like Ehrhoff, too. But he anchored the Sabres defense last year. He can't do it by himself. The Pens' stars and scrubs strategy has been a failure, and extending it to the defense is not a good idea.
I mean, good for me. But not good for the Pens.
