I used to dog Ultimate Frisbee hard. It was just a game for unathletic hippies.

Then one of my friends invited me and everyone out there was ridiculously athletic.

I now love the sport.

I can't tell if this is a subtle brag thread

or a troll thread

Either way, I upvoted.

I started playing ultimate at LSU back in the 70's. We could out run just about anyone. Some of the LSU basketball team would practice with us prior to the beginning of fall training. Greg "Cookie Man" Cook was a frequent participant.

I was also called an idiot when I said this sport could get into the Olympics in my lifetime. Now I guess I'm simply right about my opinion.

Then you have no clue what the sport is about and dis it because the main piece of equipment is a flying disc, right? That's some close-minded thinking.

Not at all I just know it's not touching soccer, or any other mainstream sport, in the next several decades or centuries and it's not played by a high level of athlete.

That said, if you play full contact when the disc is in the air it is very fun. Otherwise it's kind of fig.

I was out there when Cookie came to play. That target was so big even Lindsey could hit it.

Neat.

You essentially just said you think it will become the most popular sport in the world.

FCU. ICU.

Full contact Ultimate
Intensive Care Unit

It was a cheer back in the day. And you couldn't be more wrong about top-level athletes not playing Ultimate. The boys at the elite level are ballers, many of whom were Div 1 scholarship athletes.

I don't know what that is, but I do know that the LSU Ultimate team was ranked #1 in the country at one point last season.

My stepson plays in college....I tried to convince him to play football but frisbee was his desire. Apparently he is pretty good....he was named to the All-Freshman team South Central Division.

When I first started playing ultimate with my friends in high school I thought full contact was the rules and it was awesome.

Then I played with some other dudes who were more serious about the actual sport and cleaned one out going for the frisbee. They didn't take too kindly to it and then I realized what Ultimate wasn't as cool as I thought.
