Brendan Schaub claimed over 100k in sponsorship losses per fight too. I'm sure there are others. Former soccer star Ronoldo pulled his sponsorship of several high profile Brazillian fighters (JDS, Anderson Silva, Vitor) recently due to the Reebok deal. LINK

6 fight UFC veteran Piotr Hallmann posted this a couple of days ago.

How do you expect to have the best fighters in the world if they have to work day jobs to stay afloat?

Brendon Schaub can be very annoying but he was dead on in calling the deal shite from the outset. Said it would push a lot of good fighters in 2nd half of career out or organization (some even retiring) and kill income for younger fighters.

It's a shame, I like the idea of uniforms but cutting all walkout shirts and banners has taken too much from the fighters.

The UFC, IMO, will eventually implode from its own hubris. It will take someone like Mark Cuban, with tons of money to throw at a competing entity, to force the issue, but they will eventually implode or be forced to reform.

There's 500 plus fighters under contract.. several were getting screwed over by their sponsors.. UFC cuts guys undisclosed checks all the time.. the deal has been a disaster; but atleast the Reebok money is something.. a nice percentage of fighters make a very fine living

Mark Cuban doesn't have the net worth on his own to buy UFC; but he would be an awesome owner. I would not be surprised if UFC is sold within the next 5 years; but will have nothing to do with imploding

Don't know who your source is but that is not what I have heard. The fighters were told they would get a percentage from the kits sold. As of last month, according to Tim Kennedy, that has not been the case at all.

As to Cuban (or someone like him), he would not try to buy the UFC...he would, with other investors, both private and institutional, set up a platform to draw talent away from the UFC.

I know some folks in the medical community that have worked on UFC fighters. Apparently (and KBeezy may be able to confirm or deny this), there is a very strong undercurrent of mistrust and frustration with Dana White and the UFC.

Never said I had any sources.. also I didn't say shite about fight kits.. Reebok gives a bonus to fighters when they fight based on either tenure or title holders, last weekend's breakdown LINK .. other than that it's been a disaster, but some sponsors were sending bounced checks or not sending checks to fighters at all.. Mark Cuban has been running small promotions on his cable station for like 7 years; if he wanted to start his own company he would've tried by now.. Oh and 7 years ago, fighters like Randy Couture were complaining about pay.. UFC will be sold before killed.. the word UFC to MMA is Kleenex to tissues... the brand name value is almost worth more than the actual product and I'm sure something like a ESPN would try to outright own it; Viacom, which has nearly 14 billion in revenue owns Bellator and if they can barely compete how will another new company out of the blue.. the most I know of Cuban is he was a money man for Jim Cornette's OVW pro wrestling group.. like I said there's over 500 fighters under contract.. of course some will feel shafted; nature of the beast.. and Tim Kennedy complains about everything, nothing new there

If guys like Brendan Schaub & Tim Kennedy were getting six figures per fight from sponsors, I highly doubt Reebok is coming close to matching the top fighters whatever they were getting. Can't even imagine being a middle tier vet who absolutely loves the sport, wants to dedicate their life to it, but also has a family to raise.

According to Forbes, he is worth more than both combined. That said, if he or someone like tried to start an alternate league, they'd do so by forming an investment group. They'd venture cap it.

They bought the UFC for $2 million; if they sell, it will be for over 2 billion; maybe even over 3.. and it took several years and several million in losses and a gamble to produce a reality show for them to finally turn the corner...

Which are about to go public again which will make the fertittas infinitely richer.

They'll gradually sell off their shares or hang onto them and pay out a dividend and live off those quarterly checks til the casinos are ran into the ground.
